East Midlands Cicle Classic (PT) - Preview Welcome to Great Britain for the 14th edition of the East Midlands Cicle Classic! A cobbled classic won eight times by the legendary kiwi Sam Bewley. No other rider has been able to win this race more than once, and only one former winner will be at the start, being last year's victor Kasperkiewicz. Let's have a look at the profile and favourites.
| Fla | Sta | Res | Cob | Spr | Acc | Pedersen | 77 | 78 | 80 | 83 | 78 | 77 | Wisniowski | 80 | 75 | 76 | 83 | 73 | 76 | Spengler | 74 | 74 | 73 | 83 | 62 | 70 | Per | 79 | 74 | 75 | 82 | 74 | 74 | Gerts | 77 | 76 | 80 | 82 | 72 | 70 | Altur | 75 | 75 | 70 | 82 | 72 | 68 | Senechal | 75 | 79 | 74 | 82 | 69 | 74 | Kamyshev | 77 | 81 | 75 | 82 | 66 | 60 | Teunissen | 76 | 77 | 73 | 81 | 67 | 69 | Van Hooydonck | 73 | 75 | 74 | 81 | 61 | 72 | Kasperkiewicz | 76 | 75 | 77 | 81 | 59 | 67 | Anderberg | 78 | 77 | 76 | 80 | 60 | 73 |
It's clearly a PT race, because the startlist is stacked with top notch cobblers. Pedersen is great on the flat, superb on cobbles and would even be able to win sprints in the Tour de France. His biggest competitor might be Wisniowski, who might just be the better rouleur of the two, as long as he still has enough energy left. Anderberg is a superb domestique to have as well, obviously. Wildcard Spengler is a good cobbler, but isn't the same level on the flat as the top two favourites, and definitely wouldn't be able to match them in a normal sprint.
Carlsberg's Per is very similar to Wisniowski and should like this flat cobbled classic as well, whereas Rabobank's Gerts wouldn't have minded some British undulation. Altur is one of those riders just below the absolute top level, but on a good day it wouldn't be unthinkable to see the Spaniard from MOL being the first to cross the finish line.
Tinkoff has two playing cards here, who might try to play their numbers to surprise the favourites. Just below them it's Teunissen and other wildcard Van Hooydonck who will be trying to make the managers of their Dutch teams cheer. Those managers will certainly have at least some small hope of winning as the last name on this list of favourites is last year's winner Przemyuslzazw Kasperkiewizczovic.
Good luck to everyone involved! Full startlist can be found below. The report itself will be brought to you by the magnificent, incredible, fabolous, wonderful, amazing and outstanding reporter that is kandesbunzler26.

I think this race is a bit too Roubaix-ish for my guys, so everyone just finishing the race wouldn't be too bad.
Thanks for the preview.

Polanc had a great season so far. This race hasnt always been to kind to him though. Finishing 17th-15th-15th the last three years, a top ten would feel okay already. But obviously hopes are raised by now.

Thanks for the preview!
Per obviously has to take advantage and score a bunch here for our survival hopes. Hopefully he has it in him! Race should suit him.

Super hopeful here! Obviously a key race for us. One of three one day races left for Wisniowski, and we need to make the most of them all. Our team has in general been good on the cobbles this year, and I really hope we can do it one more time, and make some solid depth points as well. Excited to see the report! |

Signing and training David Per has been such a satisfying move in the end. This man is dragging my team to salvation every chance he gets. He's just so ridiculously consistent this year.
Another podium in a PT classic is a huge result for us right now. Per is just always attentive, following the right moves, and managing his energy well. It seems he lost the wheel for just a second in the finale this time, which cost him the chance to win, but ultimately, he lost out to two riders who are objectively stronger than him for this sort of race and finish, so I can't be disappointed in that at all. Just another solid race for our absolute leader.
And hey, as far as depth goes, two more in the top 50 is as good as it gets for us, so no complaints there! We'll lose out on total points to teams with better setups, but that's a grave we dug ourselves back in transfers.
Thanks for the great report, and congrats to ember!

Shame Gerts finished last in the group, but on a positive note was in the leading group, which contained cobblestone's finest.
Good team score depth too.

Thank you a lot for the report, kandesbunzler!
Massive win for Wisniowski and the team! His season is just sensational at this point. Pretty disappointed with Anderberg, but also our general depth scoring with only him and Potts inside the top 50 except for Wisniowski, but luckily that's quickly forgotten with Wisniowski able to win it
And thank you for the congratulations, bbl and Marco! |

Wisniowski keeps beasting through the season. Congrats ember! Not gonna lie, i was cheering for the relegation threated teams for selfish reasons but he is just too good
I'd say Evonik performed okayish. Polanc solid but with pretty bad timing with his positioning and timing, probably contributing to being too exhausted in the final sprint losing out on valuable points. Neilands on the other hand performed very well. I'm growing more confident that he might just be the longterm Polanc replacement already (due to cap and availability concerns).
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Not the best day for Salzmann and Vermeersch, but given how the former in particular has overperformed this season I can't complain about an off-day once in a while. Congrats to Aker and thanks for the report! |

Missed the race initially, so sorry for the late comment.
Of course a bit disappointing to see Pedersen lose a group sprint, but a very solid second place and we have to be happy with that. Decent-ish also from Tiller and Stokbro, so all in all happy with our performance. Great ride by Wisniowski yet again, congrats ember!

As I predicted this race way too hard for us. Got no one in the top 50 and only 4/8 riders even finishing the race. Points wise the worst PT race of the year

Nice try by Senechal, but with two 3-star favourites we can't be happy with "just" a 9th place by Kamyshev. Thanks for traveling to Rutland kandesbunzler26.
