Chrono des Herbiers
While the CT puncheurs and sprinters will fight in Britanny, the PT time-trialists come race some kilometers South, in Vendée. They’ll have 48 km to show their skills against the clock.
The winner list is quite easy here, with Mads Würtz winning the two last editions, and Taylor Phinney the five before. The American was 2nd the last two years. Both are returning, along other TT stars.
| 2022 | Mads Würtz (Grieg-Maersk) | | 2021 | Mads Würtz (Grieg-Maersk) | | 2020 | Taylor Phinney (Isostar - Specialized) | | 2019 | Taylor Phinney (Grieg - Maersk) | | 2018 | Taylor Phinney (RBC Pro Cycling) | | 2017 | Taylor Phinney (RBC Pro Cycling) | | 2016 | Taylor Phinney (RBC Pro Cycling) | | 2015 | Marlen Zmorka (Metinvest-Dacia) |

Würtz is coming back, as we said, to add a 3rd victory, a 4th for his team. Phinney is here to take back his crown, and win this race with a 3rd team.
4th last season, Wirtgen is another of the top time-trialists with a shot to a better result. Anything else than a podium could be disappointing for the Luxembourger.
Out of this trio, Mullen and Ganna might be the best placed to disrupt the expected podium.

This might be the last race where we score significant points this season. Both Lammertink and Howson in the top 10 is the expectation. It would be fun to see Phinney win it for one last time, but Grieg probably needs a Wurtz victory much, much more.
Thanks for the preview.

One of my better Herbiers lineups in years. Still sucks. Lets go Foss.

It almost feels like we're doing this race an injustice with our lineup. Not much choice, though, we're simply not better.
Assuming Würtz is the favourite here, I'm very curious to see how Wirtgen vs. Phinney goes. Stat wise, Wirtgen must be the minor favourite, but it feels very, very, very weird to not have Phinney as a top 2 favourite |

Bjerg can either overperform or underperform. Perhaps someone pulls a Coppel from last year, which would be much better since it's only one stage this time

Last wildcard race for us, and we definitely won't be stealing the big points from the PT teams here. With Schmid getting one of the three available spots due to development reasons, I though Brunel and Bissegger would be the better choice than sending Rekita instead of one of them, due to the former being more complete riders. Well, that was obviously wrong, as only TT stat matters in TTs, so I can't even expect a Top 20 I guess. Anyway, just here for the fun.
Good luck to all, hoping for another Würtz win in the fight against relegation!

I got pretty much exactly what I expected here. A nice way for the TTers to finish the season.
Thanks for the report

A decent race by Brunel to get 22nd (not great, though), a bad one by Bissegger - and Schmid winning the "young puncheur talents" duel against Vansevenant, so it was a successful race nonetheless
But it's clear that we still have a lot of work to do to be competitive when we come back for the next time - probably with actual points at stake for us...
Congrats to Grieg on another great Würtz win, relegation fears should be a thing of the past now with Herbiers and East Midlands both yielding pretty nice points
Thanks for the report!

Thank you for the report, Imladrik. All our three riders in the bottom 11, no surprise there. Another great win for Grieg and Würtz. Looks like he found form just at the right time for Grieg! |

If you average out Cataford and Razumov's results then this probably looks a lot better, but given our lack of TT strength I'll happily take this result
Congrats to Grieg and thanks for the report! |

Thanks guys!
Somehow missed both Herbiers and Midlands over the last few days, but great to get the catch up with the results we had over those two races. Würtz has been incredible good at performing at his top level the last few seasons, with also the few exceptions coming in minor races. So awesome to see him snatch another huge victory here.
These last few races (Herbiers, Midlands, Deutschland and sort of Slovenia, while that more uncertain given the hilly stages) was always going to be major races for us point wise in the season, so great to see that Mads x2 have performed so well. It should give us some much needed breathing space.
Thanks for the report, Imladrik!

Three riders in the top-30 and Yatsevich in the top-10 is a solid result. Thanks for another report Imladrik, nice screenshot from Zakarin, something is wrong though with screenshots Herbiers3.png, Herbiers9.png and Herbiers13.png
