Time for the next ranking and it`s actually up to date with full February and start of March as well including Strade Appia Antica and Pais Vasco.
In total this period had the first monument in Milan San Remo, 5 PT events including the triple clash as also 4 PTHC races, where obviously some teams have had more race days as others.
Let`s start with the triple clash. Tirreno - Adriatico, Paris - Nice and Grand Duche. Depth here often works out similar as focussing on just one, which then is won.
To make it short: Puma SAP takes the crown here in the triple clash, with focussing on Tirreno Adriatico, which was won by Herklotz.
January PT leader eBuddy though also did well with Dombrowski being the 3rd best scorer with only Spilak in between for Isostar.
Festina with a high scoring combination of mainly Coquard and Lecuisinier also high in the Tirreno ranking.
Paris-Nice is the reason for Air France being that high as Sicard was a good choice to win the home event. Ponzi for Fablok, Bibby for Gazelle and Bakelants for Indosat other huge scorers there.
Last but not least Grand Duche, which was won by Sagan ahead of Lutsenko and Boasson Hagen.
In total this means Puma ahead of Air France and Gazelle here while Festina and Bennelong follow. Last due to a decent depth here similar to Aegon in 8th, T-Mobile in 11th or Spar in 12th without being very high in one individually.
| | | Total | TA | PN | Duc | | 1 | | Team Puma - SAP | 752 | 547 | 60 | 145 | | 2 | | Air France - KLM | 700 | 80 | 466 | 154 | | 3 | | Gazelle | 639 | 194 | 304 | 141 | | 4 | | Festina - OAKA | 592 | 362 | 179 | 51 | | 5 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 588 | 214 | 334 | 40 | | 6 | | Moser - Sygic | 572 | 123 | 186 | 263 | | 7 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | 561 | 122 | 394 | 45 | | 8 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 556 | 189 | 322 | 45 | | 9 | | Isostar - LimeBike | 523 | 323 | 149 | 51 | | 10 | | Generali | 506 | 164 | 290 | 52 | | 11 | | T-Mobile | 486 | 169 | 174 | 143 | | 12 | | SPAR - Siam Cement | 463 | 144 | 128 | 191 | | 13 | | Evonik - ELKO | 444 | 75 | 222 | 147 | | 14 | | eBuddy | 438 | 286 | 84 | 68 | | 15 | | EA Vesuvio | 401 | 69 | 219 | 113 | | 16 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | 369 | 80 | 229 | 60 | | 17 | | Farfetch Pro Cycling | 339 | 178 | 121 | 40 | | 18 | | Aker - MOT | 334 | 229 | 51 | 54 | | 19 | | Repsol - Netflix | 295 | 178 | 72 | 45 | | 20 | | Team Tinkoff | 201 | 47 | 76 | 78 | | 21 | | Podium Ambition | 199 | 80 | 84 | 35 | | 22 | | Grieg - Maersk | 101 | 49 | 52 | 0 |
The PT classics plus Milan San Remo in the next table.
Boasson Hagen with a great win in San Remo beating the sprinters, where surprisingly Groenewegen won the reduced bunch sprint ahead of the expected couple around Demare, Grosu, Kump or Van Stayen/Van der Lijke.
The Malmo-Copenhagen TTT was won by Tinkoff ahead of TTT specialists Bennelong and Puma while Strada Appia Antica saw Bewley being beaten!
Wisniowski for Grieg with a fantastic ride for glory.
In total Grieg got the most from those 3 classics after taking the smallest amount in the triple clash! Similar to Tinkoff who jump from third last to 2nd.
Puma being 1st and 3rd in the two rankings so far looking good to make a big jump.
| | | Total | TTT | MSR | SAA | | 1 | | Grieg - Maersk | 432 | 45 | 99 | 288 | | 2 | | Team Tinkoff | 406 | 250 | 66 | 90 | | 3 | | Team Puma - SAP | 395 | 140 | 200 | 55 | | 4 | | Isostar - LimeBike | 395 | 5 | 185 | 205 | | 5 | | Generali | 383 | 125 | 76 | 182 | | 6 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 377 | 75 | 245 | 57 | | 7 | | Air France - KLM | 376 | 15 | 321 | 40 | | 8 | | eBuddy | 348 | 30 | 221 | 97 | | 9 | | Podium Ambition | 335 | 50 | 155 | 130 | | 10 | | Moser - Sygic | 333 | 10 | 94 | 229 | | 11 | | Gazelle | 291 | 65 | 40 | 186 | | 12 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | 276 | 55 | 103 | 118 | | 13 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 250 | 175 | 40 | 35 | | 14 | | Evonik - ELKO | 228 | 5 | 165 | 58 | | 15 | | Aker - MOT | 213 | 20 | 148 | 45 | | 16 | | T-Mobile | 205 | 10 | 107 | 88 | | 17 | | EA Vesuvio | 205 | 25 | 140 | 40 | | 18 | | SPAR - Siam Cement | 202 | 40 | 45 | 117 | | 19 | | Repsol - Netflix | 200 | 90 | 40 | 70 | | 20 | | Farfetch Pro Cycling | 150 | 5 | 105 | 40 | | 21 | | Festina - OAKA | 133 | 0 | 72 | 61 | | 22 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | 106 | 0 | 71 | 35 |
The last ranking for the 4 PTHC events. 2 classics in Omloop and Hallstatt and two stage races in Barbados and Pais Vasco.
Omloop with the expectations fulfilled as Bewley took the win ahead of Theuns and Vanmarcke.
Similar in Hallstatt, a really tough climbing classic, where Spilak plays his combination of climbing skills to perfection taking the win. Madrazo and Herklotz to follow.
Barbados being a sprinter event and in the end a bit surprisingly Kennaugh coming out strongest beating Ewan by a couple of points. Even bigger surprise to see Guardini in 3rd ranking position ahead of Coquard and Swift!
Pais Vasco then saw a combination of uphill riders and time trialists in the high scoring area. Gesink, who is the perfect allrounder took the big win for Generali with Sagan in 2nd position already lots of points below. Brändle on a surprising 3rd in the points ranking just like Zardini in 4th.
| | | Total | Oml | Hal | Bar | Pais | | 1 | | Generali | 796 | 134 | 0 | 0 | 662 | | 2 | | Moser - Sygic | 466 | 193 | 28 | 0 | 245 | | 3 | | Gazelle | 435 | 42 | 144 | 0 | 249 | | 4 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 372 | 0 | 46 | 3 | 323 | | 5 | | SPAR - Siam Cement | 372 | 0 | 16 | 47 | 309 | | 6 | | Team Puma - SAP | 345 | 0 | 104 | 40 | 201 | | 7 | | Air France - KLM | 333 | 0 | 74 | 179 | 80 | | 8 | | Podium Ambition | 310 | 103 | 0 | 207 | 0 | | 9 | | Isostar - LimeBike | 289 | 0 | 190 | 0 | 99 | | 10 | | T-Mobile | 257 | 0 | 74 | 0 | 183 | | 11 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 233 | 0 | 84 | 0 | 149 | | 12 | | Aker - MOT | 197 | 0 | 0 | 197 | 0 | | 13 | | Repsol - Netflix | 184 | 102 | 0 | 82 | 0 | | 14 | | Evonik - ELKO | 178 | 0 | 49 | 0 | 129 | | 15 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | 158 | 2 | 0 | 156 | 0 | | 16 | | Festina - OAKA | 135 | 0 | 0 | 135 | 0 | | 17 | | eBuddy | 109 | 16 | 0 | 93 | 0 | | 18 | | Grieg - Maersk | 69 | 69 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 19 | | Team Tinkoff | 40 | 40 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 20 | | EA Vesuvio | 37 | 0 | 0 | 37 | 0 | | 21 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | 33 | 33 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 22 | | Farfetch Pro Cycling | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Counting all those together, we see Moser moving up into the lead but it`s still very close up there. Generali with a huge move from 21st to 2nd after not scoring a lot in January but in especially their Pais Vasco was huge plus solid results in the triple clash and the cobbles.
Air France up to 3rd as well with good results by mainly Kennaugh and Boasson Hagen and Sicard.
Aegon remains high up there just like Gazelle and so the top 5 is within 150 points only.
And not having a big gap neither Puma and former leader eBuddy coming next just ahead of Isostar and Bennelong.
At the bottom EA Vesuvio climbing one spot while Farfetch is the new last. Grieg despite winning Strada Appia Antica being 20th only while Repsol and Indosat also under the line. Later really with a huge drop after January but the gap to in especially Tinkoff is not big. Though some more points up to Podium Ambition actually.

Boasson Hagen the top scorer so far followed by Grosu and Herklotz, who has started his season as good as he ended last year.
Sagan as 2nd best puncheur while Groenewegen is doing really good as 2nd best sprinter!
Gesink then as best allrounder with the big names coming afterwards such as Ponzi, Bewley, Swift or Coquard and Spilak.

10th place is very welcome. Guardini has really surprised me, AI or not. Ponzi doing as expected, but could do much better too. When the GTs start running we'll get in trouble, but it's been better than expected so far. Retention is still gonna be hard, but this start must be considered successful

The triple clash was always going to hurt - and it did! Very happy with the three PT one day races that followed though, great to see us all the way at the top, mostly thanks to Wisniowski.
With only one PTHC race this update (and the horrible triple clash), it's no surprise seeing us in the relegation zone at the moment. That being said, I'm feeling sure we will be able to climb now that Phinney is racing and with some more racing on the cobbles.
Cool to see Generali so far up! Thanks for the update, roturn

If only Bobridge would be useful this year.. It could have been our best start into a PT so far.

Not good enough, but with Coquard not getting top 10s in more than 50% of his sprints we can't possibly be doing any better in this part of the season.
Hopefully Koretzky isn't equally crap. If he is we only have Lecuisinier to save us a top 10, and a top 3 definately not in the cards any longer.
Gotta hope for the random dice to just hit a 6 now and then for us.

Just the day I have some time off to catch up with the MG a bit a rankings update is out so that's pretty cool
I'm very overwhelmed by my team doing so well so far, I've been reading some reports too and I'm very happy to see that the depth has actually been paying off. Gesink is obviously giving me a lot of hope for the upcoming GT he is in with the dominant performance in Pais Vasco and the ok performance in Tirreno, and it's even better to see how well he was helped out by the very solid support cast I took there.
Extremely positive performance by Theuns too, whose training in cobbles has clearly been a factor. He could be huge during the upcoming northern classics campaign.
With that being said, this first third of the season was always supposed to be very lucrative for us, so it's nice to get a headstart considering there's no way we're going to keep this kind of pace throughout the year.
Thanks a lot to all the reporters and roturn in particular for the great update. Sorry for my inactivity but I should be able to follow the season a bit more from now on!

First of all, thank you very much for compiling this update!
Undoubtedly I'm very happy with the latest stretch and our rise towards our Top 5 ranking goal, which still looks doable despite me remaining eternally pessimistic.
Obviously fueled by Herklotz and Demare as expected, we still need to appreciate our unmaxed riders contributing great points: Stüssi in Pais Vasco just now, Niu in China and Tirreno, Madouas in Barbados, Ganna in Qatar.....
Looking forward, there are the GTs looming where our season will likely be decided based on the performances of Herklotz in one of them and Demare in another...we can't expect similar results to last season, but we're not looking to beat every single team again, just most of them.
Speaking of Demare, he has only raced four of his 40 race days yet, similar to 8/70 for Arndt, so they both have plenty more potential in them to keep us up there. It will be hard for Demare to replicate his consistency this season in such a sprint environment though.
But in particular Arndt will be interesting to follow as he will be our main classics puncheur in a game that might be able to compensate for his 76hil with 79mo if the AI treats him well.
In that regard, looking at the general puncheur misery, I wonder if it even cost me any points to sell Kelderman and invest the wage cap in renewals and the free agents Madouas, Niu and Spanopoulos...those three combine for 89 points so far, which outscores Bobridge, Gastauer, Boswell, MAL, Ginanni and McCarthy.
As for the other teams, congratulations to Generali for their great start into their PT era, surely helped by their TT and TTT skills so far, but also with great depth that could see them stay high up throughout the season.
On the other hand, again commiserations to Festina, Bennelong, Evonik and all the other teams hit by the game unreasonably much, it's not as enjoyable being ahead of you this time.

Not sure what to think about this ranking. 11th doesn't look so bad on paper but I feel there was lots of scoring potential not used in some races like Qatar, Barbados, Trentino, ...
Thanks for the update! |

Not really worried yet about being in relegation zone. Kudus and Alarcon are yet to have their races, except for the awful East Java show, and we've being relying on Vanmarcke, Nizzolo and breakaways for scoring this couple of months. That was never giving us a lot of points. Praha will give us a nice chunk of points to keep us in the fight before the mountains really start for us.
Also, PTHC bands are coming later in the season for us

NOTE THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RESULT; JUST MY OWN INTEREST IN THE SITUATION versus USED RACE DAYS.
The system is very simple just points versus invested number of race days.
(a race of 5 days with 8 riders cost 40 days - 1 day races cost 2 days)
| Team | Div. | Points | Race days | Points/d | | Moser - Sygic | PT | 1908 | 317 | 6,02 | | Gazelle | PT | 1759 | 325 | 5,41 | | Generali | PT | 1833 | 344 | 5,33 | | eBuddy | PT | 1588 | 300 | 5,29 | | Isostar - LimeBike | PT | 1504 | 301 | 5,00 | | Air France - KLM | PT | 1781 | 365 | 4,88 | | Aegon - Lavazza | PT | 1780 | 390 | 4,56 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | PT | 1470 | 328 | 4,48 | | Team Puma - SAP | PT | 1691 | 390 | 4,34 | | Team Tinkoff | PT | 999 | 238 | 4,20 | | Festina - OAKA | PT | 1220 | 291 | 4,19 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | PT | 968 | 234 | 4,14 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | PT | 1307 | 318 | 4,11 | | T-Mobile | PT | 1205 | 303 | 3,98 | | Aker - MOT | PT | 1134 | 301 | 3,77 | | Evonik - ELKO | PT | 1134 | 321 | 3,53 | | Podium Ambition | PT | 1122 | 319 | 3,52 | | Grieg - Maersk | PT | 854 | 248 | 3,44 | | SPAR - Siam Cement | PT | 1273 | 388 | 3,28 | | Repsol - Netflix | PT | 962 | 309 | 3,11 | | Farfetch Pro Cycling | PT | 737 | 245 | 3,01 | | EA Vesuvio | PT | 763 | 312 | 2,45 |
Sorry for any mistakes that you may find.

Thank you for doing the update, roturn! And also thank you Tamijo for the stats provided
With surviving in the PT as the season goal, this is about to get difficult, no doubts about it. Swift is already done with about 1/3 of his race days, having only three races left where he can also fight for the GC/race win.
Taaramäe also struggling to make an impact in Tirreno-Adriatico means we'll need some lucky punches elsewhere to survive, I think. We better start chasing KoM jersey and the odd breakaway that succeeds! |

Thx Tamijo, that certainly puts things in perspective. In this stage of the season the amount of days raced varies a lot (234 to 390).
