With only Lombardia left the following situation. Puma easily are the PT winners already and with more than 1000 points, same more or less Moser for 2nd. Boring 1-2 really and early decided this season.
EA Vesuvio on the podium followed by Festina and Evonik. All could still go for the podium as gaps are there but not fix yet. And same could even be said about Air France. In especially as it`s the team of the moment having won both Maroc and Tasmania. Gazelle, T-Mobile, Isostar and Bennelong all in the top 10 with chances being high to remain there as well.
At the bottom the relegation fight is almost as thrilling as in the PCT division! Quite a surprise seeing it was ~300 points before the latest two races! But UBS really put the pressure on Tinkoff with excellent performances and it couldn`t be more ironic that it could be Tinkoff`s legend Trofimov, that saves UBS and kicks his old team down to PCT! The Russian veteran had a big race in Tasmania, while Schelling did well in Maroc, which results in closing the 300 point gap and now only is a 24 points gap and in fact Trofimov is the best rider of those two teams for Lombardia, which could even see UBS being favourite for remaining in the PT!
Grieg and Aegon above that fight looks safe and Desigual below those teams seems to be relegated. Same goes for Porto, Volvo and Berg.

12th admittedly looks much better compared to 16th We'll obviously drop a couple of places in Lombardia seeing the teams that are within 200 points, but at least we're safe. Can't ask for more after a bumpy season.
And wow, Schelling suddenly giving UBS a big chance to survive! You could wonder if it's all scripted, as roturn writes in the opening post, Trofimov was Team Tinkoff and vice versa for so many seasons.
Also the fight for a top 5 looks interesting with Air France's late push, as they should have EBH for Lombardia as well. That could get more interesting than knockout and maybe also SotD enjoys. |

Trofimov attacks, leading, Oleg comes by in the team car, Trofimov abandons and is seen with a new boat, house, car afterwards.
Obviously the preview for Lombardia. |

We are not that far away! If Mohoric and Spilak can play it well in Lombardia, which I doubt, We together with some depth score could make it all the way up to 5th still. That would make it an awesome season for usm Go Isostar!

Indeed, we didn't consider Air France as a competitor for the top 5 spot, but now we need to seriously consider them!
With Koretzky we have a rider that SHOULD on paper do pretty well, but not better than Gastauer and especially not better than Skujins, van Garderen and EBH so we could be in a very dire situation after the Lombardia. We have a top 3 goal prior to the season. For that to happen we need Koretzky to heavily overperform while Vesuvio does nothing. We did exactly that some seasons back with a gap very similar (or even bigger), but for it to happen again would be almost impossible.
If we can somehow land the top 5 we really should be satisfied after letting our two best scoring riders go.

Look, I didn't put in countless hours of DB work in the off-seasons and spent over 100€ on cruise ship wifi to stay up to date during several transfer seasons just to get called "boring" by roturn when we finally win this shit.

Not a very good update for us, but still pretty safe and we have strong team for Lombardia, so not worried about that. Strong month for Aker, so "the best Norwegian team"-award is slipping away from us

Right now im very glad that i went conservative and picked a top 10 goal for the rankings - makes the end of the season much more relaxed. Top 3 is gone after a pretty bad end of season run. Hoping for a top 5 but everything is possible there.
Tinkoff vs UBS got pretty close, lets see who survives the season
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

You are just lucky that I decided to sell Spilak

This is pretty ironic. I don't have a lot of faith in Trofimov to pull this off and my squad for next year will be better suited for PCT anyway. It will be interesting to see what happens though. Thanks for the update.

Well last year's 2nd place for Trofimov at Lombardia saved Tinkoff from relegation. So I don't think he needs another house, boat or car; but if he does... all he has to do is secretly help Chernetskiy

We're doomed since the Volta. The off-season can't come soon enough for us.
It's going to be an interesting battle for the top and bottom 5's though. Good luck everyone! And thanks for this timely update roturn!

Overall a few placements that still need to be settled, however it would be amazing to see Isostar grab a top 5, also congrats to Cio for winning the divison after so much work. Gonna be interesting to finally figure out who takes the last relegation slots, since that could greatly impact the free agency for all the lesser teams, granted no disbands occurs.

Personally it was quite risky as PT team to go for talents such as Van Hooydonck, Van der Poel, Carboni and selling Keizer at the same time without a replacement and also Dekker/Boom declined.
Luckily the rest of the team did still good enough with a 800 point advantage over the relegation zone.
Next season though might see another big name leaving potentially, Boom probably finally out of the bigger scoring zone but at the same time Van der Poel probably scoring a bit more (not necessarily though).
It`s all about trying to improve nevertheless then to hopefully having a more easy season. |
