A long flat race which is sure to test the stamina of the sprinters. The race is meant to be one for the fast men, but last year showed that there are other ways in which it can be won. A Van Avermaet late attack prevented Bewley from going back-to-back. Which way will will it go this time? Let us look at the contenders.
| Name | FLA | STA | SPR | ACC | | Bewley | 78 | 78 | 83 | 83 | | Degenkolb | 76 | 73 | 84 | 81 | | Guarnieri | 76 | 77 | 82 | 81 | | Swift | 74 | 73 | 84 | 82 | | Holloway | 78 | 77 | 80 | 82 | | Ahlstrand | 74 | 74 | 83 | 82 | | Van Stayen | 76 | 76 | 83 | 78 | | Kristoff | 75 | 75 | 83 | 79 | | Howard | 76 | 75 | 82 | 79 | | Ciolek | 75 | 73 | 83 | 79 | | Coquard | 73 | 71 | 82 | 83 | | Roelandts | 75 | 75 | 81 | 80 | | Boeckmans | 73 | 74 | 81 | 83 | | Groenewegen | 73 | 74 | 82 | 81 | | Grosu | 73 | 74 | 82 | 80 | | Saber | 75 | 74 | 81 | 79 | | Petit | 76 | 76 | 80 | 78 | | Van Avermaet | 78 | 78 | 78 | 78 | | Vantomme | 73 | 76 | 82 | 78 | | Stauff | 74 | 74 | 80 | 81 | | Vanderbiest | 74 | 74 | 82 | 77 | | Zabel | 74 | 74 | 81 | 79 | | Avelino | 71 | 70 | 83 | 78 | | Van der Lijke | 73 | 73 | 80 | 79 |
A long list of favourites because of the various possibilities that this race can throw up.
Top favourite, once again, is Bewley. His combination of sprinting prowess and strong support stats make him almost invincible in this sort of race. Almost! As last year has shown.
Degenkolb, Guarnieri and Swift are the riders who'll most want this race to end up in a bunch sprint. Together with Bewley, they're the fastest men in the race.
The likes of Ahlstrand, Van Staeyen, Kristoff, Howard, Ciolek and Coquard are very fast in the sprints but lose out in one or two of the other areas important for this race.
Holloway is the opposite of the riders mentioned above, not the fastest, but with excellent backups, which could put him into contention.
Defending champion Van Avermaet will need another one of his late bursts if he is to repeat his win. He stands no chance in this field in a bunch sprint.
The other riders who could be in contention for the win in this race are mentioned in the table above.

EDIT: My mistake, turns out we only send 7 riders, lake of support then should make things a bit harder but that's the theme for us this season anyway.
Looking forward to this race though, wildcards are always fun and low pressure and I'd like to think Vantomme has a little bit of last years Qatar left in his legs, looking forward to it!
Evonik to win of course, Dzamamagic winning would be a dream. And nice preview Abhishek!

Hopefully we can see an epic sprint between all those sprinters who are here. And i'll say that Guarnieri will take the win, especially if Strava can build a train

No expectations for this, so I won't complain about a low scoring race this time
Saber though, would be nice to see him at least trying to sprint. And of course there's some minor hopes for a roleur (Vanspeybrouch, Wohler) to attack, if the race will be tough.

How dare to put Swift into 4th position of the favourites.
In especially when getting Groenewegen as leadout rider. Only time since Qatar, which worked well.
And for both the last race of the season unfortunately. So a win would be appreciated. Or at least a podium minimum. If Groenewegen can finish with some speed for a top10-15, this would be awesome as well. |

I would quite like a surprise Top 5 for Ciolek to offset the points lost by not sending him to Germany. It'll be a crazy sprint though.

We always knew that this would be almost impossible for Coquard, but looks even more difficult now the names are on the table.

That's way too much quality for Kristoff
He should at least be able to join the sprint, and then a top 10 might be possible. But really, no big expectations here, eventhough we've nice memories from this race, also from back in 2012 when we scored a very nice result here with Jørgensen. |

I demand a repeat performance
Last season this was the positive surprise with greg van awinmaet. This time ive got higher expectations. MVS should be a good contender for a top 5 but if this season is anything to go by he will fail big times. Van Avermaet could again be my wildcard or a monster leadout which he wont be. Dzamastagic also either monster leadout or proven finisseur. Even Stoltz could be onefor this race. So yeah - im lookingbforward to he disappointed

Huge startlist of course. Will be hard to get a great result here, we got a win goal which will not be achived. Before the season I would hoped for a Top 5 but after Ahlstrand performance this season I guess Top 10 would make me happy. |

Unlikely that Van der Lijke will do anything, but figured it'd be more of a waste to not send my best sprinter to this race.

Since we don't get any points from this race, we'll probably perform very well

Very much a lottery race with a field like this. I'd like to see Avelino return to his Qatar form and snatch a good result.
Aegon seems the team to look out for with Swift and Groenewegen, both top sprinters and with strong results throughout the season. Also Strava, Iberia and Spotify are owed good results in this sort of terrain so it would be nice to seem then take the win too.
Anyway, good luck everyone and thanks for another nice preview!

Great Preview
A top 10 for Howard is the aim and anything less would be disappointing not sure how this will play out though with the length and if the flat stat will come into play much so will be interesting to watch |
