The last couple of races were mainly for all terrains but the bigger mountains. So climber teams surely won`t look forward to this update a lot. First Milan San Remo from February still. Also the new Afrique challenge was for the spritners while Pais Vasco as puncheur race, Ronde Van Vlaanderen as second monument just like East Midlands for the cobblers and the Chrono des Herbiers for the time trialists.
More important though, it`s the pre Giro d'Italia update. So the first GT is not far and climbers will heavily look forward to it as also California is soon to change the picture a bit.
Well, what to say about the last couple races? Most obvious: Bloody Bewley. In all races he took part, his team was the top scorer! Milan San Remo, East Midland and the Ronde. Not the biggest surprise surely seeing he won all 3 classics continueing to form his legendary status. Good for the others, he skipped Afrique.
Other teams who performed pretty well in those races were Metinvest/Pokerstars (MSR), the cobbled trio Evonik/Puma/Bpost (East Midlands, Ronde).
Top scorer in the time trial event Herbiers was a team from far below the ranking as Taylor Phinney started well for RBC. Good omen for them but also last years winner I-Gen did excellent there.
In Afrique Aegon was far ahead of the rest with race winner Swift. Pokerstars came close but lost the rhytm in the end. Though they might still be happy seeing that Degenkolb has about 40% as many points already as Swift and definitely passed the Brit for best sprinter out there.
Pais Vasco, the puncheur race was dominated by Tinkoff. Aker in the known Trofimov-Boasson Hagen duel came closest.
HC races can be mainly ignored for now as the tiny points for Kenya and Tinkoff in Strade Bianche and Corsica are no changers. Though PCT cobbles are different. Lots of points were gained in the E3 Prijs for PT teams. Bpost as top5 there scored pretty well while in total 7 PT teams got some points there with most even a good amount.
The biggest steps up is made by the sprinter teams. Aegon profit from Swift`s win in Afrique the most, which moves them up to 4th, while Pokerstars also makes a nice step, though the Degenkolb/Mohs struggle in the second half of the race avoids a bigger jump.
Becherovka defends the lead but is attacked by Aker as well now with Evonik still being in range, while Puma defends the top5 as 3rd promoted team already!
Vesuvio drop the most which is not that surprising seeing they no longer have a top sprinter and the early season was for exactly those in many races.
Further down Kenya Airways already with quite a gap to the next spots and they look like a likely relegation candidate if they can`t turn around soon. The Ardennes for Ponzi might be a good opportunity obviously. Also Grieg and Bpost still struggle, so the promoted teams are exactly opposite with Gazelle being the balance in the middle.
eBuddy, RBC, Metinvest might be teams waiting for the GTs as Gesink, Phinney, Pluchkin are their potential life savers.

It`s mainly the sprinters and puncheurs at the moment. As also the cobbles were raced (and dominated by Bewley) it`s no surprise the Kiwi is also on top of the rankings. Pokerstars must be pleased to see the big difference between Degenkolb and the rest of the sprinters. Definitely the sprint star no.1 in 2016.
Trofimov and Boasson Hagen as best puncheurs could be an exciting duel in the Ardennes, though others like Ponzi surely want to have a word there as well as also Bakelants or Van Garderen, who are high up there already.
Andy Schleck dropped a bit but is already high up there as best stage racer at the moment.

We are actually much better than i thought, with some nice points from MSR and Herbiers. Still a relegation spot, but now our time comes with Giro looming. If the things should go right, i hope to see us on the different side of the table in two months time, fingers crossed for our most important period.
Becherovka obviously with expected great first part of the season, but some dangerous title contenders like Aker or Festina are not far far behind.
Great job from promoters Evonik and Puma so far, also Aegon with a nice push forward.
On the other side of things, Kenya looks very very bad, hopefully Ponzi can do some miracles on the hilly stuff for them.
Ebuddy needs Gesink badly...

Swift probably not as great as in past years and still he might be the needed piece to keep me up this time! Quite a pity for me that this year so many sprinters got trained and now steal the usual Swift points. 
De Bie, Boom and Keizer also in the top50 of the individual table gives me good hope for the rest of the season. In especially as Daan Olivier is yet to score a single point and in his only chance really so far he crashed and got injured to avoid this. Also Groenewegen still has to start his own season more or less even though I can`t expect a lot by him. |

Evonik and Aegon with a really strong appearance in the PT, beast. If either takes their momentum with them into the grand tours, a Top 5 would be amazing. Vesuvio also really doing well imo despite Swift's leave, World Champion Schleck just inspirational for the whole squad. Avin's Metinvest a bit down but it will come in hard in April tho with Giro and Plui cashing in, so higher scored PT teams better be ready to take a tumble. Meanwhile things look already grim for Kenya, Ponzi to the rescue!

Very nice to see us right up there, eventhough EBH hasn't got everything right, and actually quite far from it. We should drop though, maybe already with the Giro, but definitely when the Tour de France comes, as we're lacking in the stage racing department this season.
That will especially be felt in the Tour, where Guldhammer isn't going, but hopefully he can do some decent damage limitation in both the Giro and the Vuelta. Most importantly, the current second place gives us a decent buffer down to the teams outside the top 10. And afterall, top 10 is the goal this season.
Bewley is sensational, and only four riders within 50 percent of his score so far is quite telling. How many points will he collect this season? Down at the bottom, Ponzi really needs to get going, as an unlucky Kwiatkowski and Ponzi not quite at last year's level most likely won't be enough for survival. |

Being 6th and less than 500 points away from 1st at this point is pretty good. Still Spilak have only ridden one race (A hilly one-day race).
We are the best team who have an 85 rider, although Vesuvio is very close.
The Giro won't be a good race for us though, so we need a good California and Amstel Gold Race performance. Tzortzakis needs to perform very well in the Giro sprints and then Novak and Campero should heavily overperform - If not, then we will drop quite a lot during the month of April. From May and onwards we should start to climb back up again. So if we are in top 10 after May, I think we are in a great position to get a top 5 overall PT result.

Still not last
We'll probably do ok until Tour de France, where we will do absolute shit (worse team you've ever seen in a GT) and never really recover from that.
Hard to predict how the battle for the title will go, with many of the team focused around the classics season up there. For me, it looks like SotD have had a great start.
At the bottom the GT season should also change a fair bit. Looks very tough for Kenya at the moment though. Need a new huge run from Ponzi in the Ardennes.

Although I hope we will have decent stage success in the Giro and in Cali and obviously a good Roubaix, this will probably be the last rankings that look this good for us.
The gap down isn't big enough to be safe from the climber teams surging past us soon, but at least the bottom 4 should have a hard time.

Considering there's only been 1 Phinney race day so far we are holding are own well and only 50 or so points off being out of the relegation places a great start we need more surprises and obviously The ronde rerun has taking us from safe to relegated but at least we know it's only 1 result away |

The fact Festina are 6th and their best rider is 33rd says a lot. I still feel they're the favorites for the title, with Becherovka that could have wanted something more from Sagan in the first third of the season.

Hilly races haven't been Orange's cup of tea since the times of Michael Boogerd (really, yes), so I can't be too disappointed. However, it's quite worrying with an so even fight in the relegation spots. Kenya seems doomed, but everyone else... |

Have you seen my grand tour line ups? Hugely unlikely that I can keep my momentum. Just gotta enjoy the moments up there.
I think I've said often enough how strange it is to be among the very top teams among all those long existing teams. Maybe often enough to annoy some managers
I knew that i should be close to the top 5 at this point to avoid relegation but it feels great to also be there. Still while the expectations go higher due to all the success the most important number for me is 834 (the difference to the relegation zone). Everything's okay as long as I don't go down ^^
3 guys in the top 15 is awesome Only Aker has a second guy ahead of my third guy which perfectly describes my transfer strategy
other things I'd like to mention: (most have been bought up already)
- Bewley  Perhaps a change of team next year would be cool for him 
- all 3 ( formerly ) German promoted teams in the top 5 - Awesome !
-iGen and Vesuvio already so close to each other. Keeping the rivals close
- Metinvest will skyrocket next month baring a Giro crash
- Kenya looks doomed if Ponzi cannot repeat the triple

Few worrying things:
- All about Bewley, he has more points than all our riders combined - both amazing and worrying
- Howard seriously underperforming again, Sagan too so far, really worrying
- Even if Bewley wins all classics where he takes part and has a great TdF (unlikely), I really need my other leaders to start performing better, worrying hoping
- Aker, Festina and Vesuvio are seriously close and even Metinvest and Tinkoff are closer at this point than in the last season, worrying news for me keeping the lead
- Puma are looking like a serious dark-horse, as Movistar has a decent start of the season as well, worrying to see such a big competition
- Evonik may have some serious chances to finish high as well as MVS will score a lot in some races and they are in for some breakaway luck in GTs as well, they may be a challenger this year, worrying to look forward to GTs for me
- Kenya really need Ponzi to do his magic in Ardennes, otherwise they are in some deep trouble, worrying look on this table for them at the moment
- Gesink better not crashing this season at all, will be some worrying reading of new reports for alex
- Looking forward to Roubaix now, currently worrying about not winning!

That's actually slightly better than expected. But still, the gap to relegation territory is just 200 points. The upcoming Giro will be key. I need Madrazo to score at least a thousand points this season and after a disappointing Paris-Nice the bulk of that amount has to come from Italy. If he disappoints again, we're quite likely to join the fight against relegation soon.
