I recently got the idea of hosting a ManGame Rider of the Year. The idea is not necessarily to pick the best rider of the year, but rather the one that stood out most. This can be due to having the best results, but it could also mean the most overperforming or most attacking rider, or fantastic domestique. In any case, I'll have you decide on what you prefer.
Any rider, on any team, any division is eligible. The manager of the team does not necessarily have to be active, it's the riders that count.
First up is the rider nomination. Some riders will be automatically nominated, but others are up to you to nominate.
The riders automatically nominated are the rankings leaders of each division, as well as the PT monument winners and GT winners (including America).
The other nominations are up to you. You can nominate two riders by sending a PM to me. You are allowed to nominate riders on your own team.
Any rider who has received at least 3 nominations (or 2 if low participation) will be officially nominated. Nominations are open already.
To nominate, copy the following table to the PM and replace the data with your preferred nominations.
| Rider | | | Team | | Rider 1 | | | Team | | Rider 2 | | | Team |
And finally, the deadline for nominations will be Monday 23 March at 15PM GMT.
As soon as all nominees are announced, voting will be opened. You are able to vote for 5 riders, in your preferred order. The first will be awarded 8 points, the second 5, the third 3, the fourth 2 and the fifth 1. To vote, fill in the voting sheet below and send it in table form as a PM to me. Voting for your own riders is not allowed.
| Rank | Rider | Team | Points | | 1 | Rider 1 | Team | 8 | | 2 | Rider 2 | Team | 5 | | 3 | Rider 3 | Team | 3 | | 4 | Rider 4 | Team | 2 | | 5 | Rider 5 | Team | 1 |
The deadline will be announced later on.
As soon as the voting closes, I will announce the winner. This rider can proudly be called the ManGame Rider of the Year 2014.
Who are allowed to participate?
For the nominations, only 2014 ManGame managers are allowed to make nominations. The voting is open for everyone though.
What's the point of all this?
It's just something fun for the offseason. Plus it hopefully stimulates interaction between the division, which is what we have hoped for throughout the season.
Yes, it is. In fact, I even recommend it if you want to nominate a fantastic domestique/attacker.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them below.

Definitely going to have to nominate Frank Schleck! Not because he is my rider, but because of achieving a Top 10 in the PT individual standings despite having had 2 stat decrease seasons, and having been some way off the Top 10 in 2013.
Will have a think for the 2nd nomination, maybe Beltran!

Nominations sent. A little of campaign...
Marquez: Top scorer of the winner of the PCT
Monfort: Top scorer of the biggest surprise of the PCT
I didn't nominate Betancourt for personal conviction but I hope somebody does it

Trofimov doesnt need to be nominated anyway
I might have to nominate 2 of my riders after all though. Azzeddine Lagab! Wins a GT stage, podiums a PT classsic, wins a HC stage race, numerous other Top 10s. All for 120k off the free agency!

Yeah Trofimov is a lot like Valverde irl.
Wins rubbish races and then misses out on the big ones
Hard to argue against A Schleck for me - spectacular win of the tour de France. That said Phinney, Cunego, Alarcon and Bewley deserve mentioning in the Protour. I nominated Phinney, he is one of the main reasons Wikipedia won the ProTour.
I also nominated Van Stayen, though I understand their are possibly better riders - I did this for romantic reasons of being a former rider I was the pimp for.

It's the play off between the best results and the surprising results. In terms of surprise you can't look much beyond Alarcon, Beltran or Rodrigues. For results you can't go much beyond Trofimov, Brajkovic or Rodrigues. Then there's some middle ground like Cunego, Schleck and Schleck.
Although safe to say it's Chicchi

Well nobody on my team deserves a nomination, but I'm having a hard time deciding between Andy Schleck and Trofimov.
