I came across a race that gave me a thought on looking up UCI rules for who are the bearer of the leader jersey in the next stage.
I tested out Tour of Beijing and in the first stage Bill Swift raced to victory in a huge mass-sprint, getting a 10 second bonus and the Red jersey (well Beijing have this instead of yellow).
Next stage Valverde took a brake to the finish line but almost got caught by the peloton on the line. Bill Swift came in 4th. Both had same time.
So Swift and Valverde now had the same time (both getting that 10 second win bonus), but when Valverde dressed in leader jersey for the 3rd stage I reacted (old race organizers do I believe)
So whats wrong. Well Valverde finished 14th in the first stage so the UCI ruling says that if two riders are having same time the collective finish placings should decide the jersey. Only if that sum is the same should the cyclist with the best placing in the LAST stage have the right to the jersey.
Valverde 14+1
Swift 1+4 (the correct red jersey in my and UCI books)
I have put this on the forum for all to check if this is a single occurence or if it´s already known..
Informing Cyanide this BUG is useless I think, since my notes on wrong calculations on intermediate sprints/KoM was ignored.
My conclusion is perhaps similar to before. It´s more important that the shoes, gloves and bottles are correct than the race rules by UCI is followed.
Perhaps the solution is the same. Imagining that Valverde had a few hundreds of a seconds better time on his finish (Actually according to the visual view he should have a couple of seconds in real life) Te rule that a small gap in the finish do result in a new time, doesn´t work in this game.
Now impress me with some thoughts mates....
FOTNOT:
Kind of funny ending on the 3rd stage 2012 Tour Beijing in the game. Finish on the Great Wall, BUT they forgot to open the gates and the riders happily went right threw it. Crazy cartoon style.
