Spoiler This is the first story i have done so any advice would be much appreciated.
I’m sure most cycling fans remember the years when HTC Highroad/Columbia used to dominate the sprints with riders like Andre Griepal and Mark Cavendish. Sadly HTC folded at the end of the 2011 season and all there riders went to other teams. Now after two years of negotiations they are returning for the 2014 season. They are returning as a pro continental team with a very different squad. Although most of the bigger riders have not returned a few of the lesser riders have come back. The goal though is still the same, win as many stages as possible and hopefully build up a great squad of sprinters who can challenge at world tour level.

The Leaders
Jürgen Roelandts is a very useful all round rider and will lead the team in sprints and also in the cobbled classics. Hopefully he will bag the team some wins in the first season.
Barry Markus is a top young sprinter who will certainly get a chance to show his talent for HTC and should be able to get some good results.
After a couple of seasons with Omega Pharma – Quicksep at world tour level, Fenn has decided to step down to the pro continental level to progress his sprinting skills and hopefully become Britain’s next Mark Cavendish.
Jens Debusschere is another rider who can sprint and ride well on the cobbles. His role will be to assist Jürgen Roelandts as a lead-out man and also in cobbled classics. This doesn’t mean he won’t be able to sprint for himself in many other races though.
Luke Rowe is the teams other British sprinter who has great potential and who can do a job as a lead-out man or sprint for himself.
Caleb Ewan isn’t one of the best sprinters in the team at the moment but will get lots of chances to take part in sprint finishes. This is due to the fact he has immense potential and the team feel he needs lots of experience sprinting for himself.

Australian National Championship ITT
The first race of the season for HTC-Highroad was the Australian Championships ITT. We only had one rider, Caleb Ewan who isn’t a great time trialer and had terrible fitness so we didn’t expect much.
The first rider to cross the line was Cameron Meyer who put in a great performance holding the leading time most of the day until the fourth from last rider finished.
Caleb Ewan started fairly near the end due to the team only having one rider. This would hopefully help him because he could get some indication on how he was doing at each time check.
It turned the checks told him was that he was loosing through the first two checks. Not a great start.
He improved slightly and moved up 4 places to 34th when he crossed the line. It wasn't a great performance and he managed to loose 3 minutes 53 seconds on Cameron Meyer over the 37km course.
While Caleb Ewan was struggling the favourites were out on the course battling for victory. It was clear very early on though that Rohan Dennis was the strongest and he managed to take a concinsing victory.
 Caleb Ewan finished the day in 48th place 4 minutes 38 Seconds behind Rohan Dennis.
