Strong performance of Mullen & Viennet, much stronger than in Uppsala lately (or in near future, according to race calendar ).
Now to maintain gained positions in last stage.

Why am i enjoying it so much to not have a single top 120 rider on the stage and why am i enjoying being so far down in the teams classification?
Love to see Phinney win. congrats Cro!

Looks like at least one thing remains a constant in MG.
Phinney winning Praha

I give up.
The shared 5th best TT'er gets 74th and 38th in the TT's and the superior best sprinter gets 6th.
I came to this race with a hope that I could land something like 200-250 points instead I get 55-60.
To get 200-250 points I would need Vlatos to finish 8th (95 points + stage points), and Coquard to win a stage and get a stagepodium and a top 3 points jersey (40+15+15). Absolutely realistic. Instead I get to suck it

Weird race. There is not really an excuse why Brändle was not in the group with Viviani. His stats should give him an edge over similar strong timetrialist on challenging stages. So in the end despite Viviani gaining 3 positions in the GC this stage costed me as besides Brändle also Van Winden lost time, which was expectable, though.
Thanks for the reports jph and congrats Croatia!

Close to perfect final stage for us, with Stake Laengen, Cosnefroy and Korsaeth gaining plenty of places in GC and even 2nd in the U25 for Cosnefroy.
Thanks for taking the race and for the reports, jph! Nothing to do with Phinney as expected. Congrats on the win, Croatia.

What was that?
Weird last stage...
Feel a bit sorry that my three riders Von Hooydonck, Toupalik and Ballerini caused that much damage for the GC.
Even more annoyed though that even with such high pace the breakaway still made it, when Groenewegen clearly could have fought for the points jersey here.
6-8 looks good on paper only but not bringing me the points Groenewegen could have gotten with a stage podium.
In total I got a stage win here, but Frison being far far off in the TT and no second sprint and following a higher point jersey 1st/2nd makes this still not the most ideal race point wise unfortunately but it clearly was an improvement from the other previous events.
Thanks for quickly picking this race up and delivering fast reports! |

I honestly feel like punching something...
Breakaway steals the finals stage, Coquard dropped in the end. Oh, quite some gaps and wow, 5 Festina riders in that 2'53 gap - Maybe that could help Zoidl, Ioannidis and Vlatos climb up a bit. Zoidl and Vlatos should even jump to around 20th GC...
PCM AI:
| 35 | Charalampas Kastrantas | Festina - OAKA | + 2'53 | | 36 | Bryan Coquard | Festina - OAKA | s.t. | | 37 | Clement Koretzky | Festina - OAKA | s.t. | | 38 | Georgios Bouglas | Festina - OAKA | s.t. | | 56 | Georgios Karatzios | Festina - OAKA | s.t. |
"Oh no you don't! How about us throwing salt in the wound and let the remaining 5 riders get in that group instead?"

Im bothered that my team didnt attempt to join the break on any of the two flat stages as that had to be the only reasonable goal once the prologue was done. Nevertheless im satisfied with this race due to Chavanne on the prologue.
Congrats to Croatia for a dominant victory and im also glad to see that Grieg scores big in those races outside of cobbles where they need to.
I feel very sorry for Festina who instead of gaining back a lot of points on me, might even have lost further ground. That was not a result that could be expected.

Pretty weird result in the last stage which luckily actually slightly improves the ranking results for us overall but still, would have been very annoying to be on the other side of the split. Thanks jph once again!

Thanks mate...
Indeed you do. Chavanne got 33 points from stage 1 I believe, and if you have 8 finishers you land 73 points (Don't know if you scored more points through the race).
I got 59 points in total. Aproximately 150-200 points less than expected. I also scored 75-100 points too little in Netherlands. Despite Karatzios being pretty decent in all cobbled races that alone gives me something like 30 points (combined) more than anticipated.
This month sure did hurt - Also more than expected. Vlatos have a mountain to climb now to get even remotely close to what he usually scores.

Ariesen almost saving what had been our worst race of the season (the Copenhagen-Malmo TTT doesn't count).
In the end, it's better Lammertink was bad in the third stage. The heart break would have been huge to do well in the tt and then finish where he did today.
Thanks for the reports.

Cool final stage, thanks for the reports. Phinney did what he needed to do here to keep us in the fight for the Top10 |

I'm really proud of Sütterlin for making that really small group despite him being anything but suited for it!
So after all, he does manage to keep his streak of Top 10s going here somehow, although it came at the expense of depth points with Politt dropping a bit and everyone else missing out on a scoring result altogether.
It would've been great if a TTer had been protecting Sütterlin and made the cut instead of Sagiv.
Ganna at least hinted at his potential again with two days in white, which is another promising sign of things to come.
I'm truly sorry SotD. It's a rough stretch for you.
But in just a couple of months, Lecuisinier will win the Vuelta and you'll have plenty reason to smile again.
Phinney doing Phinney things, congrats Croatia. And thanks jph for picking this up!

Brilliant job by Powless in that final stage. It gave him 8th in GC, the KoM win and the U25 win.
The rest of the team pretty much failed. Guys like Kangert and Bibby finishing only in the fourth group in the final stage is a disgrace.
Thanks for the reports!

Terrible race for us. Wasn't expecting much, but I always think my team could have done atleast a little better, or atleast tried something if they were going to be so bad.
Oh well.
Thanks for the reports, and getting us back on track jph!
