2024 Transfer period
Alright, we've got another transfer season coming up and it looks like I'll be able to attend most of it. Exciting times ahead!
Let's start by quickly going through renewals and rider development.
Terrified of the new wage algorithm (putting more emphasis on rider performance), we didn't dare to lowball our riders too much and probably overpaid here and there. But in the end we did manage to squeeze almost everyone into the wage cap, with only aging rouleur Benedikt Mundle leaving the team.
The other major news of this period is that youngsters Leknessund and Aleotti recently finished their development program and are now senior Gazelle riders.
Both will focus their career on stage races that require both climbing and time trialling skills. Especially Leknessund is showing exceptional quality for his age and is considered a prime candidate for further development into a team leader.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age |  | Andreas Leknessund | 73 | 77 | 74 | 78 | 77 | 81 | 77 | 69 | 65 | 69 | 75 | 69 | 78 | 25 |  | Giovanni Aleotti | 74 | 74 | 76 | 74 | 78 | 77 | 75 | 62 | 65 | 75 | 69 | 70 | 73 | 25 |
And finally the part of the post that probably interests you most: the transfer status of our riders.

Leknessund is awesome, what a rider! In particular with these energy stats, he should rock longer stage races in a couple of years - get him some really tough mountain training and he'll be competing against the best!
Unlikely that we'll be talking with Aleotti as the most interesting rider for me being (understandibly) unavailable, but who knows ^^
All the best for transfers anyway!

Leknessund going back to Žalgiris is insane on its own, don't think an offer is needed

Leknessund would make for a great 1-2 punch with Dunbar though Curious to see how much you would consider 'insane'

Leknessund and Aleotti are great riders to build on, but given the age structure of the rest of the squad some rebuilding will be needed rather sooner than later. Best of luck with this task!

I never realized how old you age structure is. Definitely seems like there are some changes to be done in the 1-2 transfer windows. Curious to see what sort of monster squad the next generation will be...

Thanks! Definitely looking to start training him next year.

Haha, one can always dream.

There's only one way to find out, so let's talk.

Yeah I agree, thanks!

The age issue has gradually gotten worse over the past couple of years. Five or six riders in the current squad will be too weak to stay after their next decline. Ideally we already replace at least two of those in this transfer window.

We'll definitely try to find out what an insane offer means. Looking forward to the talks, and all the best for your transfer season. As others have pointed out, looks to be quite a job looming. Suspect we'll see you very active both this season and next! |

2025 Transfer period
With transfers approaching, let's do a quick post letting you know the availability of our current riders.

Actively trying to sell: Lutsenko
Open to offers: Dombrowski
Reluctant to sell, but might be persuaded by a good offer: Carboni, Peters, Vervaeke, Senni, Godon, Pavlic
Insane trade offer needed: Leknessund, Aleotti, Malecki, Teunissen

If you really sell Lutsenko and Dombrowski there's quite some work to do for you to get some new leaders in. At least the funds should be available then.

Interesting list of potentially available riders, but the leaders are on decent wages, so I'm sure you'll be able to sell them if you want. And building for the future around Leknessund, Aleotti and to some degree Malecki isn't a bad decision for sure! I'm interested in seeing if Leknessund could end up being 79MO after this season. If so he's starting to get dangerous for the future seasons, and it isn't a very expensive training! Aleotti even more cheap to get to a subtop level in just 1 off season.
Lutsenko could be interesting for us potentially.

Either I am coming swinging with an offer you can't refuse or we probably won't get to talk much during transfers. Excited to see how you navigate this off season though, best of luck!

Echo this entirely, though I think the former may prove beyond my means! I guess it's time to start training your next generation of leaders, though interested to see what else you do if you end up selling both Lutsenko and Dombrowski. |

@kandesbunzler
Yeah in that scenario we lack top tier leaders, but I don't mind. Last season was a final all-in push to perform with this iteration of the team. Now it is time to not care about performance for a while and get some fresh riders in.
@SotD
The wages are indeed very nice if you look at how strong they still are. It's tempting to keep them and if I were optimising for performance this season, I actually would. But a rebuild is long overdue. We'll speak soon.
@whitejersey
Curious about the offer. Always good to try the swing. Good luck!
@jph
Let's talk and see whether it really is beyond your means.

2025 Transfer recap
The dust has settled so it is time to look back on our transfer period. Going in we had the following objectives:
- Sign a bunch of riders in the 23 to 29 age range. No level 1 or 2 talents.
- Train Leknessund and Aleotti
- Add some cobble depth
- Sell as many old riders as needed to make this possible
Overall we achieved those goals to a pretty satisfying degree. We brought in twelve riders, eight of which are in the right age bracket. And the desired training will be done, despite holding on to Dombrowski. We did grossly overpay on some free agent signings, but during a rebuild that does not matter in my opinion.
Let's welcome the new riders.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Lukas Kubis (25) | 75 | 64 | 69 | 74 | 61 | 75 | 75 | 65 | 74 | 74 | 72 | 73 | 70 | 71 |  | Lukas Kubis (26) | 77 | 64 | 69 | 74 | 61 | 77 | 76 | 73 | 76 | 76 | 72 | 73 | 70 | 71 |
Lukas is a young and very well rounded Flandrien who we can max ourselves in just one season. His main stat will max out at just 76, but with 77 FL, 74 HI, 77 ST, 76 RS, 76 SP and 71 PR his secondary stats are very solid. The chance that we will later develop him into our main cobbler is quite large.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Andrii Ponomar (23) | 71 | 60 | 62 | 63 | 55 | 70 | 74 | 66 | 74 | 67 | 65 | 76 | 70 | 60 |  | Andrii Ponomar (25) | 74 | 60 | 62 | 64 | 55 | 74 | 77 | 68 | 78 | 70 | 66 | 77 | 70 | 60 |
Andrii is an offensive minded pure Flandrien, currently at level three of his development. Over the coming two seasons he will grow into an elite domestique for Kubis.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | El Mehdi Chokri (28) | 75 | 61 | 64 | 66 | 75 | 74 | 72 | 67 | 76 | 65 | 68 | 66 | 69 | 75 |
El Mehdi has that combination of TT and CB that shines in some very specific races. And outside of those he is a useful helper in both TTT's and cobble races.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Getachew Sendeku (30) | 71 | 76 | 74 | 72 | 74 | 72 | 73 | 74 | 58 | 62 | 68 | 54 | 63 | 73 |  | Benjamin Brkic (29) | 72 | 74 | 74 | 74 | 72 | 74 | 73 | 70 | 65 | 67 | 72 | 64 | 67 | 74 |
Getachew and Benjamin are a type of rider we have always valued as domestiques and depth scorers. They can climb, they can TT and their FL and energy stats hold up.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Kristaps Budenieks (30) | 69 | 75 | 75 | 75 | 63 | 70 | 75 | 72 | 70 | 69 | 74 | 75 | 72 | 61 |  | Jonathan Lastra (32) | 68 | 74 | 75 | 75 | 68 | 72 | 73 | 71 | 60 | 69 | 71 | 74 | 65 | 62 |
Kristaps and Jonathan are very allround climbers with an offensive mindset and a relatively quick finish. The fact that Kristaps can also help as a cobble domestique makes him extra useful.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Norman Vahtra (29) | 72 | 58 | 64 | 70 | 55 | 75 | 73 | 75 | 76 | 75 | 72 | 68 | 65 | 55 |
Norman is a solid depth option for cobble races. His 75 SP will help him score extra points by finishing near the front of any group he can cling to.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Jhojan Garcia (27) | 68 | 74 | 73 | 72 | 67 | 73 | 73 | 71 | 55 | 63 | 72 | 63 | 63 | 66 |  | Jhojan Garcia (28) | 69 | 76 | 75 | 73 | 69 | 75 | 74 | 73 | 55 | 63 | 72 | 63 | 63 | 68 |  | Jefferson Cepeda (27) | 69 | 74 | 73 | 71 | 65 | 71 | 71 | 68 | 57 | 60 | 70 | 64 | 60 | 64 |  | Jefferson Cepeda (28) | 70 | 76 | 74 | 72 | 67 | 73 | 73 | 70 | 57 | 60 | 71 | 64 | 60 | 66 |
Jhojan and Jefferson will grow into good allround climbers who don't fall off their bike in a TT and have ok energy stats.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Ziga Horvat (27) | 77 | 66 | 68 | 70 | 56 | 75 | 77 | 68 | 74 | 67 | 71 | 74 | 69 | 59 |
Ziga is a strong cobble domestique who will get a free role to attack in flat classics.
| Name (Age) | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | |  | Bartosz Warchol (33) | 69 | 79 | 76 | 73 | 66 | 74 | 75 | 71 | 58 | 60 | 68 | 65 | 67 | 66 |
Our last signing is a bit of a strange one, because he was also part of Gazelle last year. At the start of the pre-season Bartosz got insulted by the offer we made him and immediately left the team. After coming to his senses he decided to accept the wage we offered him before. We are glad to welcome him back. Great climber.
Conclusion
Our age situation had slowly evolved into an emergency and this transfer season was a significant step in the right direction. There now is a foundation to build on again. Looking forward to see you all on the road!

Would've really really loved to bring in Chokri, as indicated by my last bid which I already thought of as a considerable overpay before you came along and obliterated it I also considered Sendeku as a replacement for Uwizeyimana, but again, not at that price tag. Hope they both do well for you! Overall, looks like a successful rejuvenation indeed!

A lot of typical Gazelle guys in there. Especially Kubis fits perfectly and will be really good once he gets some training.

Horvat a very underated pickup think he will be very useful at PTHC level and Kubis an obvious standout in another great class of riders |
