Japan tried, but no beating Areruya here

... and breathe. Glad we got through that unscathed, didn't look great for a second there. Thanks for the report, Imladrik! A first WC race win for us in our 9 years, this one unfortunately won't feel quite like a win unless he can do it in the A race given his status, but still a nice moment Smile

Congrats jandal, although I have to say imo having the top 3 individual rankings rider in the B race kind of defeats the purpose of it. Areruya was not gonna lose this. Maybe in the future it would also make sense to look a bit at the stats here for the start lists like we also do with the TTs.

Heavily agree here (I know I'm biased), and also it is how it used to be to an extent. Doesn't have to change all the way to be purely based on stats as I do like the idea of the World Rankings being used as I love the work Abhi does to show us how countries are going. But common sense can surely apply for when someone like this is being put in the B Race. Unfair on one of the top riders to have a chance at missing out on the main race because of where they're from, and unfair for the traditional 80-ish main stat guys who usually have a great fight in the B Race. Imagine if Eritrea slips a few spots down from 19th and we get 85MON and TDF winner Kudus in the B Race for a Mountainous WC in the next few years.

Spoiler
Especially when some managers don't nominate the riders who would lead their team in the Elite race, so it looks even more silly than it already can.

Eaton and Eastman helping their nation winning gold is nice! Great and slightly expected win by Areruya as well Smile Congratulations jandal, and thank you for the great reports!

Heavily disagree as i am in favor of deciding A world / b worlds strictly by ranking. Qualyfying for the A Worlds with a nation project like Latvia either via ranking or B worlds felt pretty great but being given a "wildcard" because someone decided that Skujins' hill stat was high enough was pretty annoying as it "robbed" me of an achievement.

I'd rather see Greece in the A Worlds as an earned honor for SotDs build up of the nation than see Philippines giving an automatic nod because Quitas stats look good enough to whoever decides the startlist.

If we discuss changes, i'd suggest giving qualification spots to the entire podium of the B Worlds instead. Same reason: Nations can earn their way to the A Race but a single superstar from outside the top nations doesnt make it a foregone conclusion. If you want your star from a certain country getting automatic entry, help build the country by developing other talents from there.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Quita, even though he's amazing, getting an A worlds spot in this scenario because of his stats is a bit of a stretch. But tbh it's a bit of a shame he basically has no chance of qualifying to the A race with a route that suits him after his Lombardia podium, because of a rider present he maybe beats 1 in 20 times.
I agree the nations ranking should definitely be the main criteria for qualification, but top stars also shouldn't be excluded. Maybe 3 spots could be awarded based on the individual rankings to the top 3 riders missing out through the nations ranking.
I like your suggestion with the top 3 qualifying as well though. The only downside is that it will lead to two nations missing out on the B race.

Jussaume left no doubt there, awesome to see! Our first ever WC gold medal that wasn't from the TTT. Jorgenson and now this, solid way to end this historic season.

Happy to see Wurtz add another one! Congratulations, tastasol and Grieg. Now, let’s get the hype going for the road race Grin Grin

Well that was a horrible result, but I guess Karatsivis wasn’t even the team captain with how those teams were setup.

Quite a u23 season for Hayter

Mresuperstar
Second year in a row taking seventh in the U23 RR (fourth Top 10 in the last five years). But, that's probably the best we could hope for from Carlos Canal. Can't wait to see how he develops next season as he should get more leeway to chase breakaways.

Congrats to Hayter!

Leo Hayter having a party!

Thanks for a great report!

Damn, had to rely on others to keep the race together and there was just 1 attack too many to control. Still, proud of Simmons, best result by a McCormick rider in the worlds by a big margin (other than TTT).

Hayter in elite company now, Herklotz only rider to win Avenir and the U23 Worlds in the same year. Phinney won both but in two different years.

Thanks for the report.

Hayter having an almighty time of it! Follows up his Bronze from last season's U23 RRs. Has anyone ever done that? Shock

Thanks for all the reports so far. Only took me three days to be able to reply to this Rolling Eyes

Looking forward to the Elite RR now.

What a result from Dunbar - not even that far of Würtz either. Also helps that the best rider in the worlds decides he couldn’t be fucked turning up for the last two seasons which is another thing, but hopefully Würtz has a good year in the rainbow jersey.

Having an Indonesian rider finish 4th in a worlds race is amazing - Firdaus with such a good ride in the TT. Really making his case for some future development with that ride Smile

Also, hope that Gidich can get up - will be rooting for him. I wonder if Lutsenko can go out on top though?

Pretty good World Championships so far for Tinkoff/Russia; 2nd in TTT, Skujins 6th in B Race and Bereznyak 7th in U23 ITT.

*BTW Razumov and Sivakov are not from South Africa (ITT Elite) Wink

A Hayter gold and a Currie silver is good enough for me given our lack of representation in the U23 ranks this year (I went to Talents Anonymous and am clean two years apparently Pfft).
