I feared it was a bit too short, but that was just a perfect performance from Würtz! The race is already a success for us now and hopefully he can have a day or two in the jersey, while also aiming for a decent GC.
Indeed a good start to the season for Würtz. Not great in Qatar, but that was expected. Now two great results in the TTT and the stage win here. Together with Kragh he is our first rider developed from 1 to max, so great to see them starting the season in a good way. Also hugely important given our Pedersen gamble.
Thanks for the report, Tamijo!

Good opening from Lammertink. Opposition better than in Portugal but he still did well.
Kaczmarek was flying though. Now I'm hoping the hilly stages won't be too hard and he can get a good result in the GC.

Very good performance by Dennis, couldn't ask for more when Wurtz is in the startlist. Good results from everyone else too, hopefully can keep up the high GC spots in most cases. Thanks Tamijo!

7th from Vlatos is unfortunately a bit underwhelming here. Seeing as this is the one stage where I had a top favorite, that's really not a good start.
Boily losing 1 minute though is OK I guess. Not that I think it will matter much, as he's likely one of those ending up 15-20th GC. My other TT guys not too good either. Let's move on to the next one.

Well here we are, straight back to disappointing from Sütterlin.
Feels like his name should've started with an earlier letter to have a shot. Maybe he just sucked on his own though.
That's pretty much our race done, so time to head into the breaks.

Very good to see Haugard living up to his TT/PRL stats for once! 5th is very nice for his standard and Victor rounding up with a 10th aswell! Good start for us here where I dont expect us to score very much more unfortunaly. |

Not a great start for us. Wasnt expecting Kinoshita to lose that much time.

I guess a pretty solid opener for Bobridge, I guess. But this stage really ain't as interesting for us, as the question, whether he will succeed or disappoint (as usual), will be answered elsewhere..

A little bit annoying that Viviani and Brändle who are among the best timetrialists here don't even get into the top 20. My good timetrialists never seem to have a good day in TTs. In return my sprinter and Mano(75tt, 73prl) had the TT of their life. Latter even finishing ahead of my top stars. At least he also got the white jersey for a day so the TT wasn't a complete disaster.
Gidich of whom a good TT would've been important as well also not with a great day.
Interesting to see Dennis doing well, that's exactly the kind of race I wanted to sign him for as well.
Congrats tastasol, at least the strongest timetrialist won! Looking forward to the next stages. I hope Gidich can show himself - he doesn't have that many races as a leader this year. |

I was wondering what the stats were of the rider denying Wirtgen that jersey!
Seemed like an alright result for Goos and Wirtgen; will have to wait a couple of stages to see how it shapes up for Van Garderen.

Very nice to see Würtz lead way for Grieg. We'll surely come knocking again after this season, tastasol |

Hoped Coppel would've grabbed a podium at least in the TT really but still it was an OK result for us considering most punchers lost at least a minute to a minute and a half.

@ember: Thanks, I'm sure you will
We got away with one here with the split. Happy to see that it got back together and still be in the lead. Now curious to see the hilly stages. I imagine Dennis will take over the lead, but hopefully we will try to defend the jersey.
Congrats on the win, Oleg! Nice little win for Moser on home soil.

Really thought the group of 36 riders would stay away and get a gap at the finish line seeing the writing earlier. Any idea how it looked when crossing the finish line?
Good to see Kwiatkowski being alert and close to the front. Hopefully he can continue like that, and then be one of those who is able to take advantage of the hills. |

If the gap would have been there at the end, it would have been a nice stage.. now we got a podium for Howard, which is okay, but nothing spectacular, and Bobridge burning himself with a rather long leadout. Not sure, if that will backfire. Well, we showed our colors at least

Banaszek into the break for small points is good.
Had hoped to see a bit more activity and less struggling behind splits though.
In the finale no one went for it, which is fair enough seeing no clear sprinter but hopefully changes on the more difficult stages. |

Tinkoff everywhere
Nice to see Hsu in the mix unfortunately he seems to have launched his sprint a little bit too early. A shame the peloton came back together after my team was well represented in the first group. That at least means Mano keeps the white jersey one more day before he hands it of to Gidich. |
