Whatever Keinath had for breakfast, he should quickly stop with.
Horrible TT beaten by Dan Martin and others.
That`s it for a top GC result I guess. |

Daniel Martin 5'07", maybe good result compared to other climbers, but with another rather long ITT, might get afraid how much time can be won on those few climbs we got.
Starting to worry this will be the tempo riders rather than the climbers sharing top 10. Lets see
Thanks for the report, congrats to Festina

It's a very odd feeling to feel a bit sour about a stagewin, beating better riders - but this is the story of the season for Vlatos, who's acing the TT's this season, but doing shit at the GC rides.
Seeing a very long term project rider like Vlatos win stages, though always brings joy, and this is his 3rd stagewin of the season. Pretty ace, although not getting any GC points from Qatar and Praha killed his aspirations of getting a similar amount of individual ranking as last season.
Some huge gaps btw is quite interesting here.

7 and a half minutes for Brambilla
I wish we had these types of gaps when Gesink was still in his prime. And still riding for me

Was hoping for a stage win, but Vlatos surely with a super strong finish there. Still very happy with both Phinney and Würtz and it's great to be leading the GC, U26 and the team classification at this point. Valuable time gained on Kritskiy as well, so let's see how Phinney fares in his first mountain stage of the year now. At the very least hoping to still be leading the GC after the coming stage.
Thanks for the report, Marco, and congrats on the stage win, SotD.

What the hell was wrong with Keizer today? He should've fought for a Top5 instead looking way too much time.

Not Kritskiy's best time trial but good enough, almost impossible now to beat Phinney: 1'08 is a lot of time difference.

Not bad from Cattaneo and Lander so far, though the former will probably lose 15 minutes on the first mountain stage to make it all moot anyway. |

Such time gaps could be good for us, as I hope that gives Tvetcov another reason, AI wise, to be active and try his luck in breakaways on the mountain stages.
Big win by Vlatos, congratulations, SotD! Who knows, saving his legs on stage 1 with the time lost could be what gave him the win here |

Had hoped for a little bit better result from Brändle but compared to the other stage racers he is in a good position. Van Winden with a great time trial - hadn't expected that after his efforts in the break yesterday. |

A boring stage for us to be honest, at least since we (as expected) didn't join the break. Looked like a very easy day for our guys though, and that might come in handy later in the race. Great to be leading all classifications but the KoM also, though Phinney surely will lose the points jersey tomorrow.
Congrats to tsmoha on the stage win, a good "response" from the team after the poor TT from Haig yesterday.

When having absolutely NO GC riders in the race it's a huge dissapointment not to have a rider in the breakaway really. We have 4 riders with 73-76MO here who could all have been used, but unfortunately not.
If we don't try the race will be pretty useless for us.
Very surprised though to see Ioannidis climbing well enough to sit in 7th place after the stage. It's obviously a very temporary state, but nice to see nontheless.
Tomorrows stage is too difficult for Petit to attend I suspect but he's probably high enough rated for our riders to do nothing, so I guess we'll have to wait a couple of stages to hopefully see some action.

Quite a monster result from Filippo Fiorelli, podium and also good KoM position at least for now.
Daniel Martin with a good attack also, not banking much time compared to the TT loss but nice to watch.
Thanks Marcovdw - lovely read.

Like SotD, I definitely hoped to have a rider, and especially Tvetcov, up the road here with no real GC rider.
Having said that, Vangstad is suddenly a potential GC rider here, if he can avoid a time loss on the next two stages, this could be a very, very good race for him Not sure how I feel about it in general, as it will be very, very weird if also the second proper mountain stage is played out in a similar way.
Thank you for the report, Marcovdw! I enjoyed that a lot |

Lane with a huge response on my disappointment indeed! He's not been very active with breakaways since joining our team, so this result comes as a very nice surprise. Great stuff!
Obviously a nice stage result in general for us. Haig and Dyball moving up in the GC, with less effort of course. Haig needs to bounce back from his recent slump and just look at what some of his teammates deliver in breakaways from time to time.
