One of my favorite races of the season. Good luck to everybody involved!

Let's see if the training was worth it for Lutsenko. Good luck everyone.

Let's see if my strong duo of leaders can cooperate here somehow for a better result. I expect two top 20 result, Sagan hopefully in play for top 5.

Here we go!
Repeating last year's result will be very hard for Ginanni, but I do expect him to deliver a top 5.

It's here!
Brilliant to see the season start, and with it comes all the excitement. Must admit it's unusual to do a hilly race without any expectations of a top result, eventhough the preview is kind of hyping Beltran. Not sure if that's only to be nice to us after letting EBH go, or if it's for real
Not sure what to expect, really. A top 15 would probably be according to Beltran's stats, so maybe I can hope for a top 10 on a very good day?
Anyway, thrilled to see this going. Looking a lot forward to the report as well! |

Thanks for the preview, let's see if good old Trofimov still got it.

Not really our cup of tea obviously, buy it's great to have the season rolling!
Looking forward to see the big sharks fighting one another for this one. A forgetable result is on the cards for us.
Thanks for the preview Aquarius. And good luck everyone

Moser with a great start into their title campaign
Given the route and this crash rather late into the race, I'm okay with this 13th place for Bobridge. Must have been his best Badaling result afterall. Looked promising when this 15 men got a gap, damn those empty breakaway riders Anyway, solid, but nothing more.
Slightly disapppointed by Morton, but this was always a gamble. Seems like Van der Haar was Bobridge's most reliable support here?
Congrats, Roman. And also cio's Puma cats had a fine result. Thanks for an entertaining report! That was worth the season opener

Nice start for Sagan and Moser! They are in for a daft season if Sagan is now this strong! He and Bewley will rip the season apart!
We can't be unhappy with 12th from Koretzky. I had hoped for a low end top 10, but combined with Kastrantas, Alaphilippe and Jeremy Roy all in top 50 this was a good start in one of our weaker races.
Puma must also be very happy with another great team performance. Nice to see Demare working well.

Sagan might genuinely be as good as real life after that training and looking at how well this race went, congrats Roman!
I'd say that after the route change for Badaling the race might be a slightly better indication for how riders can fare throughout the season, but still I wouldn't put a lot of weight onto its results anyways, especially seeing how bad some riders performed - De Bie and Lutsenko won't really make their managers happy.
Thanks jandal!

Congrats Roman, nice present after your CC effort and seeing this the title race with Festina is definitely more open.
For myself, Bovenhuis did great (even though his crash and taking some favourites with him, might have been tactical, but not what I`d like to see again).
De Bie still sucks in classics it seems. No words for his not even top30 performance. Was actually feeling well when seeing him on the favourites list but then got highly disappointed. Hope it was a bad daily form only as otherwise all top5 predictions will quickly fall apart if the hill department performs that bad.
Quite funny to see former Aegon rider Scheit being stronger than all of mine.
Thanks for the report, great opener report wise, was a nice read and good to also see some gaps instead of this mass sprint finish only. |

Good start in the season, Bakelants very active and Strava putting in some working hours. From here on out, it will all be downhill lol. Thanks for the report Aquarius. Gratz to Roman.

All in all, 10th is a good result for Gastauer. Top 10 in all such classics would do nicely, and Badaling can be a little bit of a lottery. Extra bonus to see old man Schleck come home 25th, to do more than just the minimum score. Very interesting to see Sagan shining post-training already.
Thanks for the report jandal, great coverage of the front of the race - but I did just think it was missing a good view of the peloton as the sprint began, to give more managers a sight of where their riders were.

Great race, with all the drama an outside spectator could ask for.
Sagan is a beast, but honestly surprised to see him this strong.
Huge start for Roman and Moser - Sygic.

Evonik looked very strong in this race. Pacing for so long and always being near the front of the peleton in numbers. Skujins crashing there was very unfortunate and seeing who else crashed there and how many domestiques and how much time had to be used to bring those stars back to the front this must have been the crucial moment allowing the attacking leaders to stay ahead. Skujins 6th is a solid result I would have beensatisfied with witbout the crash but with regards to the crash it is a great result for me. Makes me wonder what could have been without the crash.
I wanted that the team depth would score more in the holly classics than previously and that worked out as well: 16th Sergis and 39th Smirnoff is okay.
All the favourites finishing at the very front but it was surprising to see Sagan getting the win. Congrats to Roman!
Great report! Thanks jandal! Loved the mentions for Smirnovs and Lopez as domestiques at the front of the peleton. Special thanks for that

Congrats to roman, Sagan looking super strong.
Thanks to jandal for the great report.
OK with 17th for Flügel and pleased to see 3 helpers in the big 3rd group, hope this means he will be getting good support in our key races.
