Vosekalns looked brilliantly on that stage. Seeing how well he is positioned in GC i would like to end the race right here.
while I appreciate that my teams tried to join morning breaks I'm slightly disgusted by the picks of riders to get into the BotDs. Twice the peleton gave up chasing once my rider was reeled in and sending Taubel on the tough mountainous stage is also questionable at least

Oram definitely the wrong breakaway rider in a mountain stage But it's cool to see our team joining some breaks, it already paid off.
Haig doing fine, I guess. 19th in the GC is about what could have been expected without any long range attacks. Just like roturn, I hope for his 17min to be in the range of riders, who are allowed to go for breakaways later on. This is his only chance to do something of note here. Even though he should do fine in the ITT, at least I hope so.
Schleck is impressive. You may wonder if Pluchkin or a quite strong Madrazo can somehow attack him at some point.
A brilliant report, thanks for that!

Kulhavy tried, Kulhavy failed.
Velits tried, Velits failed. At least he is not injured.
Another fall by Parra.
Really bad Vuelta for us so far.

Nice how Chhetri keeps up racking those KoM points, if he holds up to the end we might get away with some additional points. Hoping Didier & Co. are just saving energy for their attempts in third week.
Gratz SN, another win by Schleck is surely most welcome. He's beasting it.

Very happy with Arndt's results in the mountain stages so far.
15th overall would be pretty good, and currently he even has the buffer to survive the eventual TT time loss. Obviously lots of better climbers are still behind him for now.
Bongiorno was 16th when he started his crazy ride, so I hope Arndt still qualifies for at least one break attempt later on, considering absolutely nobody of my team feels up to that task yet and that we also somehow lost Chevrier in this stage.

Nice to see Lecuisinier performing according to his level again. Unfortunately Galta just performed even better... We are losing quite some stupid points on that account (2 per stage) that we basically calculated on getting, but we can't complain about other riders outperforming ours aslong as ours are performing what can be expected.
I would like for Lecuisinier to climb another 2 spots in the GC and take the U25 competition. Time will tell if that is possible.

He gave it a good go old Dombo. GC battle taking shape now, looks like 4th for him but a bit of luck could get us on the podium. Cracking report there.

Another day off from Machado, not exactly what we needed.
Madrazo showing himself a little, promising some fight to Schleck, even though the luxembourgian seems to be cruising, waiting for stage 21 to arrive. I feel for fj, Pluchkin has been decidedly underwhelming so far-
Galta, with an impressive day to offset Guldhammer's performances. Abal also, super strong. He already had a rock solid Giro, but his home advantage is being put to good use here.
Congrats SN, and thanks for your marvelously paced reports Tamijo!

Schleck is just too powerful Congratulations, SN!
Though, very nice to see especially Dombrowski have a real go at it. As the top favourites are riding now, I'd say he's the biggest threat to Schleck.
And what an amazing stage by Galta Must have been a +5 day, I guess, as I've never seen anything like that from him earlier. Incredible, and suddenly a top 10 is very much on the line again. Though, I can't expect such performances from him on a consistent basis in the mountains, and quite far from it, but it makes it only cooler when it actually happens like now
On the other hand, Guldhammer with another absolutely woeful display in the mountains, which is annoying. As it is now, he seems to be at best a domestique in this race, which is a shame, as he entered as our leader. Being more than four minutes away from a top 15 overall is simply not good enough, and honestly very surprising. I can only hope he picks it up, but so far there's nothing to suggest that.
And thank you for another quality report, Tamijo |

3 mountain stage wins out of 3, a great opening half of the race - it's really good to be able to take the stage win points early, as the chances of breakaways will only increase.
It was a little worrying to see Dombrowski being granted so much freedom, but the work of Goos and the rest of the team is quite reassuring on that front, chasing down the moves that go too early. And then another decisive final kilometre kick, to edge out a larger advantage.
2 minutes now on Madrazo, 3 on Pluchkin, it's nearing an amount that would be enough to keep the lead after the Stage 17 TT - but it's not comfortable yet.
Great to see Goos in 16th overall but it's a very small gap on those behind him, and König's individual performances are not up to par. Teams classification has developed nicely though, with only Aker close at the moment.
Very interesting to see the difference in performances of some of the Giro riders. Great to see Galta going so well, and yet he never troubled Velits or Monsalve at the Giro. Abal seems very attracted to the fight for 5th position.
Thanks for the report Tamijo, such great detail on rider positioning. Is there any chance you have a non-cropped version of today's victory celebration though?

Only one hillstage left to survive for Abal, doing okey here and defending his GC position but Kritskiy will soon pass him and Machado after that.
Just hope he can hang on to top 10.
Will some team help us to chase the break all the way on the next stage?
Once again thanks for briliant reporting! |

Once again a pathetic performance by Lecuisinier. If he doesn't drastically step up we can kiss the U25 and our first season goal goodbye. At this point we are likely to score even less than in the Giro.

Good stage for me. Olivier playing his hill stat while Keizer doing good on bad terrain.
Except for Dombrowski no big gaps. Huge one for him. Pity Olivier couldn't stay with him but it was a nice attempt by him as first. Having KoM points now hopefully highers the chance for an attack.
Schleck vs. Dombrowski vs. Madrazo actually. Pluchkin not himself so far. But never count him out.
I'd say Taaramae had been in from by 3-5 min by now as also Schleck is not that mighty here. |

Thanks Tamijo, I do like shots like the 2nd one, and will be sure to use it in my Team HQ!
And what a rider Goos is! Continuing where he left off in last years Tour de France, in supporting Schleck at the GTs. Some lovely destruction caused, and much better from König too. Good background riding from Kirsch also, to move a little closer to the Top 30 GC.
I can be happy with Schleck too, 3rd place on a hill stage, and putting good time into both Madrazo and Pluchkin. But it was super impressive by Dombrowski, that aggression paying off - it can't be allowed to happen on too many more occasions. Would have preferred for him not to lose so much on the final climb but for once he is at least a rival that Schleck can out time trial.
Very surprised by Pluchkin though. It's tough on fjhoekie to see him so under par. But if he inherits the 4th placed aggression of Dombrowski then his race can quickly turn around.
