The final race of the 2020 PT season is the Giro di Lombardia. While the title and relegation races seem to be almost settled, there are still battles for minor placings going on throughout the division. With time of the essence it's only a brief preview, but the race should hopefully more than make up for it!
The Puncheurs
| HIL | MO | STA | RES | ACC | De Bie | 84 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 75 | Hagen | 84 | 69 | 80 | 73 | 78 | Sagan | 83 | 74 | 78 | 74 | 76 | Ponzi | 83 | 72 | 76 | 71 | 79 | Kinoshita | 83 | 72 | 80 | 77 | 77 | Lutsenko | 83 | 73 | 76 | 73 | 81 | Skujins | 83 | 70 | 80 | 77 | 76 | Mohoric | 83 | 71 | 78 | 72 | 77 | Lopez | 82 | 79 | 76 | 74 | 78 | Van Garderen | 82 | 72 | 78 | 75 | 79 | Bakelants | 82 | 73 | 78 | 75 | 75 | Kwiatkowski | 81 | 78 | 74 | 76 | 75 | Buchmann | 81 | 76 | 73 | 74 | 73 | Koretzky | 81 | 71 | 77 | 70 | 79 | McCarthy | 81 | 67 | 80 | 75 | 74 | Gastauer | 81 | 70 | 77 | 69 | 75 | Vakoc | 80 | 71 | 75 | 71 | 74 | Boswell | 80 | 71 | 77 | 73 | 76 | Jensen | 80 | 70 | 77 | 73 | 76 | Vogt | 80 | 62 | 78 | 71 | 63 |
De Bie and Hagen are the two names who stand out from a brief glimpse at the startlist, but they'll face stiff competition. Sagan and Ponzi have plenty of experience but are up against a new generation of top puncheurs headed by Kinoshita and Lutsenko, while Lopez and Kwiatkowski will thrive if the race starts to favour the climbers.
The Climbers
| HIL | MO | STA | RES | ACC | Taaramäe | 77 | 84 | 78 | 79 | 75 | Dombrowski | 75 | 84 | 80 | 78 | 75 | Guldhammer | 77 | 81 | 74 | 75 | 76 | Barguil | 75 | 81 | 77 | 77 | 75 | Reis | 73 | 81 | 78 | 76 | 63 | Schleck | 71 | 81 | 71 | 76 | 73 | Preidler | 78 | 80 | 71 | 77 | 69 | Meintjes | 78 | 80 | 77 | 76 | 69 | Roglic | 76 | 80 | 75 | 76 | 74 | Formolo | 79 | 79 | 76 | 76 | 71 | Talansky | 77 | 79 | 75 | 76 | 69 | Arndt | 76 | 79 | 77 | 76 | 75 | Faglum Karlsson | 73 | 79 | 78 | 75 | 68 | Bongiorno | 75 | 79 | 77 | 77 | 69 | Anacona | 74 | 79 | 75 | 72 | 61 | Costagli | 71 | 79 | 70 | 71 | 67 |
Speaking of the climbers, and two of the world's best are here in Taaramäe and Dombrowski. Watch out also for the likes of Meintjes, Formolo and Guldhammer who are more than respectable puncheurs in addition to being strong on longer climbs.

Aranburu and Asgreen both in the break. Asgreen works for Aranburu, who wins by five minutes.

We need a 1-2 from Kwiatkowski and Taaramäe to have a chance at surviving in the PT. Obviously it won't happen, but I had to check the points scales file to see if there's any chance...
On a more serious note, I have ambitions for this race, bringing both Kwiatkowski and Taaramäe here. This is the classic that should suit Kwiatkowski best, and Taaramäe himself could have been a top 10 contender in a free role. Hopefully he'll make Kwiatkowski's bid for glory more realistic being here as a super domestique.
And yeah, that scenario will also do, bbl! |

Oh. I don't have anyone from Morton or Bobridge here
Hoping for a breakaway then. May the break take the victory!

If King Power outscores us by 82 points they pass us in the PT ranking and they definitely have a squad that makes this scenario possible.
We'll need a solid performance from Formolo and some depth scoring as well to hang on to sixth place.

The team itself is very strong here for me, so relegation shouldn't be an issue anymore except for Ponzi and Aker full the full top5.
Olivier likely would have better chances for a top5-10 while I expect De Bie to struggle for a top15... But anyway, likely had no suited race days left for first.
Of riders like Zardini or Valls aren't ignored and going for a top35 themselves the scoring should be decent no matter what De Bie is doing. |

Finally the last race so we can stop torturing ourselves. A few seasons in the PT has been nice, but considering how the first 1/4 of the season went I’m just happy that this shitshow is almost finally over.
Maybe Bakelandts can finish in the top-70? That would be something in his last race for the team.
Anyway, go go Lutsenko!

We don't need points from this anymore, so it actually wouldn't hurt to be invisible and save some bucks in the off-season.
From a more neutral perspective, Arndt needs a hard pace over the long climbs in the middle to make this a climber's race, which could propel him from a minor Top 30 outsider to a Top 10 candidate.
It's a fine line between a tempo that drops all the puncheurs and a tempo that also drops a 79mo rider before the finish though.
I hope most managers will get to enjoy the final race of the season in some way!

Forgot I sent Reis here. Thought his awful season was already over for a long time. Of course he won't do anything but if Lutsenko can repeat his performance of last season there is a good chance of catching Gazelle still. |

Did I just see the very best performance by De Bie all season? Still not a win but who expects those from a 84 puncheur anyway.
I never had expected to really perform here but they did and as the team schedule saw some of the strongest lineups in the last races for me, they in the end kind of deserved to leave the relegation zone, where we actually only were for one update anyway. Still it was easily possible to go down as well.
Feel for Aker as this was one of the most cruel relegation, never really in danger and late in the season slowly falling the ladder. |

Hopefully Dombrowski did enough to keep our place in the team standings.
Really sad to see Aker relegating. I have no idea how they put themselves in that spot.

Moser got REALLY close to us there after all!
Congrats to knockout for the first of many, I hope that'll help MAL stick to the hilly stuff.
And enjoy those negotiations now.
Niu saves the day yet again, a great ride.
Arndt won't ever perform in puncheur races with this AI, but it's still sad to see it every time. 79mo is absolutely worthless.

Well deserved win for knockout, hopefully that makes their aftermaths of the season a little sweeter. Thanks for the report!
Not a great race for us at the final show of Mt.Triglav, but looking at the final standings we won't complain
