This 210km all-flat classic in Moscow is going into it's 3rd edition, while it's giving it's debut as a ProTour-event. It's of course a race made for sprinters and in the previous two years, those fast men delivered with Napolitano (2013) and Bennati (2012) taking line honours to make it an all-Italian honour roll here!

Bennati will be here again to repeat his victory from two years back, while we also have some other sprinters coming back to Russia this year: Avelino (4th in 2013), Cavendish (6th), Kennaugh (7th) or Zabel (12th) will be amongst the biggest threats to end the Italian's streak here.

Bennati therefore has to be considered the top-favorite with some of the ProTour's very best sprinters missing on the startlist. The veteran has a great chance to bring home a huge win for his team and himself.

Degenkolb, wildcard-entree Cavendish, Van Heerden and Avelino of course won't be easy to beat though. And also Flat-monsters like Kennaugh, Howard or Rowe will fancy their chances thanks to this long day on easy terrain.

Let's not forget guys like Tzortzakis, Kip (as the worst roleur amongst the favorites), Zabel, local hero Krasnov or Feillzu, who may well all be able to challenge for the Top-5/10, if not more.. Bos though...

A few other teams like Wikipedia may have to go for their roleurs to attack the peloton: Summerhill may be the biggest threats of all for such a move, just like Lotto's Burghardt (if he's allowed to go on his own)!

May bit a bit too much to hope for a top10 I guess.
But not impossible with some sprinters being out due to the Norway clash.

And I really hope that my team will be either in the breakaway (Schädlich/Thurau/Olivier) or in a late attack (Ballan/Nooytens).

Shame that PCM won`t make a sprint train for my team as I think Ballan, Nooytens, Schädlich, Krieger, Nizzolo could have been a pretty nice one.

Sent a very weak team here and looks like I was not the only one.

It does clash with Norway, but even so plenty of PCT managers will look at this startlist and think that they would have rider that could win this.

Degenkolb is usually pretty consistant at these sorts of things and Pokerstars are just having an awesome year so I think he will win.

Obviously SRB's hopes are pinned to a breakaway either early or late. Surely this parcours means an early break will be caught and only a hardy wind would allow a late escapee.

Intrigued to see how Van Heerden does - he has had a shitty season but it was around this time last year he picked up a few results. Have my doubts with that acceleration but lets see.

Love the stats in the preview tsmoha - still thumping out loads of reports well done!

I hope Zabel is strong enough to do well in the sprint, yet weak enough for Sieberg/Zepuntke/Teunissen to try in a breakway

Weak team for us here, though with the way Stauff was sprinting in Norway I wish I had sent him here after all.

Very good memories from this race and the 2012-edition. Hopefully Van Heerden can do something, anything constructive will do. Fancying Cav and Degenkolb for the top two.

Thanks, it would be fantastic win for Degenkolb. However, I´m very very unsure about strenght of possible sprint train. Impatient how race will develop.

Having managed a top5 last year and without the major PT sprinters here, I fancy Avelino's chances for another good result. There are many valuable opponents though which makes it hard to have an accurate idea of what to expect. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for doing this one in such a short notice tsmoha Wink Massive work you're doing, mate!

Tinkoff has an awesome sprint train, we "only" miss a sprinter who can deliver the last jump Smile so all eyes are on Vorobev I quess!

I guess this was disappointing...Nooytens trying for 1s was the best thing here.

Don`t get why Ballan with one of the best flats wasn`t trying and where the hell Nizzolo was in the end.

Level 3 Sbaragli being my best finisher as 24th says enough I guess. His combination of high flat, stamina and decent sprint surely will be nice in future years. Not only as one of the best leadouts but also for longer and harder classics.

66 points is at least something even though ~40 points less than I had hoped if Nizzolo had been around the top10.

Disappointing race from SRB, pretty much invisible. That said my team was a real poor one, but you always hope to see something. At least all the riders completed and when you have two stags in team that is a bonus I say - will have outscored Santander and Pendletons at least who amazingly have not got full complements. Smile

Some decent sprinters missed out on a high finish, a bad one for Pokerstars really they did not get their sprint train together right. Still this was a great chance for them to get points in this fight for the title. Actually Good Energy winning puts pressure now from behind.

Amazing to see nearly a British 1-2-3 even without arguably the best British sprinter here. Clever win from Rowe who gambled on Cav being the right wheel.

JvH utter crap once again - sorry to ember I sold you a real dud there mate.

Shock

Amazing!

I was just lamenting to myself about not choosing Guarnieri to come here or sending the full lead out train with Guarnieri to the Ras, but for Rowe to win. Incredible. When was the last time that happened? A Giro stage in 2011 maybe?

Perfect wheel choice I think was more the reason for the win, there were clearly faster sprinters here, just they started too far back.

I guess this keeps me near the top of the rankings - again, no one predicted me above about 11th pre season. Acceleration stat is quite helpful for me it seems...

I know you dont like my "ACC causes it all" attitude, but look at Van Heerden, dude is absolutely useless with his 73 ACC. If he was 73/82 instead 82/73 he would maybe have better succes in pcm13. Pfft

Same goes for Guerao...

Congarts to Good Energy and Rjc_43, i love their roster and what a season they have! Smile

Huge result for cav and his PCT struggling team.
I'll be back
