Overall Description: Here is our first review of a database in this section. We will try our best to rate the most used and best DB’s out there to give you a solid knowledge of what to choose. RSM 2007 is a database for everyone that wants to play the new season of cycling.
Features: - starting year set as 2007 - teams and cyclists of 2007 with shirts - true budgets - new team roles for the cyclists - the real UCI-calendar - new and real secondary sponsors - national champions and world champions of 2006 - new manager pictures - new season goals for the ProTour-Teams - new mouse - new national flags - all transfers (6.2.2007)
Opinion: The graphics part is not that advanced compared to some other db’s, like the PPDB 2006 for example, but it’s much better then the average. They have the jerseys and mini jerseys for 2007, new background, new better looking national flags and new mouse.
Stats: The stats are also changed to look good for the 2007 season. Most of the riders have solid and good stats, but some are a bit hard to understand, Popovych 72 in Cobble for example (I know he is Paris-Roubaix U-23 champion but come on, seriously). Also I find the Recovery and Stamina stats a bit to low for most riders. Except the best not many else have what they should have in those two stats.
alex153 To comment the overall editing, they have done a very good job in that department. Updated transfers, changed name to Pro Tour, new season goals, changed the contracts and also some other nice touches to improve the db. Panaflex Editing weaknesses are few and far between in this here. Not once did I experience instabilities, bugs or anything similar with this DB despite using it for 3 seasons. Absolutely impeccable editing. Period.
Pros and cons:
+ almost all transfers for 2007 + realistic budgets + very realistic stats + excellent overall editing
- many photos missing - very vanilla graphic-wise
Grade:
Graphics: 7/10 (good, but not top-notch)
Stats: 8/10 (decent stats most of the time, but a couple of misses takes away the perfect score)
Editing: 8/10 (Also well done, but the little extra is missing)
Overall: 8/10
Conclusion:
alex153 Definitely one of the best 2007 databases out there, it has some flaws, but it’s not bad at anything.
Panaflex This 2007 database is second to none in terms of overall editing and realistic stats. I've used it for no less than 3 seasons which is more than just a delicate distinction between the RSM DB and all other available databases. The only real downer is the amount of missing photos for most DSC riders and many others - apart from that: Look no further!
CrueTrue As with Panaflex I have used the database for two seasons and did not - not even once - experience problems. It's really a solid database, and with the stats being as realistic as they are it's perfect for long career games. I do, however, feel that it has some weeknesses. You will not be able to find a lot of new talents, you will not be graphically surprised (which is also good, though, since that reduces the size of the package), and you will not find any new 2007-stages. Some of that has been corrected in the 1.4-version, though.
