Sorry, another question about contracts. I'm new to the game (which is frickin awesome btw) so I started a career with Astana to learn the ropes whilst still winning some races. In my first year i tried to renew Contador's contract but he went to Caisse D'Epargne in the end despite my generous offer. As i was just getting started, i thought "never mind, i'll just edit the db and get it right next year", so i used Hannes to delete the transfer and extend his contract for a year. This all worked fine.
In my second year i started negotiations early, but no matter how much i offered he wanted to wait for other offers - fair enough. i offered the maximum the directors would allow and waited. he went to GCE again. so i experimented and no matter what i offered he always leaves (he's over the moon btw).
looking in the db at the DYN_transfers_precontract there is an entry for the contract "value" (can't remember the exact string) and i could see GCE's offer had a higher value than mine. what i want to know is what factors go to making up this value. I assume the fact that GCE are a spanish team in addition to the rider nationalism value means that if both teams offer the same amount of cash, the country modifier means their offer will be more attractive, but does rider ambition have an effect?
i'd like to know before starting a new career so i can keep my preferred riders. apologies for the long post and if this q has already been asked elsewhere - i have searched i promise!

Nationality is one of the factors. Then there's the contract length, role on the team, his current motivation and results, etc. All that influences a rider's wishes.
hmm, yes i suspected it might be more complicated. ah well. have started a new career as cervelo so will just have to throw money at hushovd and sastre thanks

depappie: yes absolutely. i was using the career as a learning curve and interested in the mechanics of the process as there seemed to be no way of retaining the rider. will be more philosophical about such things in my new "proper" career
