LAN problem

Me and my friend is having problems playing LAN. When I conect to his game, it says "Wait for connection", and then I end up in the main menu again. What am I doing wrong?

If there's any firewalls, they'll have to be disabled. Also, if he or you are using a router, you'll have to check that it's not protected and that the necessary ports are opened.
