Gels and downhill

How do you use the gel and does it have any effect?
Does the dayform of the rider have any effect? 5+, 3-, 0 etc?
Found a thread on training, but the list didnt say anything on how to improve the Downhill skill, is it impossible to improve it?

just click the gel and it'll ligth up after a few seconds. thats when its working. (the effect isnt too big though)
the day form of the other hand does have quite some effect. well, you wont notice the difference between -1 and +1 but +/- 4 or 5 can get a sligthly worse sprinter to win, or a GC candidate to lose contact with his opponents.
and there isnt really a way to train downhill.

Well, the gel give your riders more attacking energi (red bar), and it is a lot I think, specially in a mountain stage where you want to attack with about 3 km to finish..

I believe that downhill is improving by training "Climbing", but I haven't seen any results yet..
