Gamesection.dk has just released a review of Pro Cycling Manager 2007. They give it an "impressive" 5.5 out of 10.
Only problem is, I can hardly disagree with them, when they say: "Considering this is the seventh installment of the cycling manager series, the series still suffers from an extreme amount of bugs."
I have to agree. WHY THE *BEEEEEEEP* DOES CYANIDE MAKE A PSP-VERSION OF THE GAME, INSTEAD OF MAKING THE REAL GAME PLAYABLE.
Don't get me wrong I still play the game and love it, but with all the bugs, it is so frustrating. I think that any alternative could easily torn me away from Cyanide's "bug-wonder". That newspaper-thing doesn't work at all, there are still problems with viewing a riders career achievments and the game still (after patch) crashes atleast 5 times a day for me. |

It's fair to criticize the amount of bugs, but there's no point in criticizing the PSP-version. It's two completely different teams which work on each game. There's one team for the PSP-version, and there's one team for the PC-version. It's not like they take time from each other. That's not how it works. |

That is true, but I agree that they might consider using their resources for improving the PC-version (more testing, et cetera) instead of transfering an (in some ways) incomplete game to the PSP... |

They need to make money - a new platform = bigger market = more money

It has been "Out of stock" ever since the release day, so I doubt very much that they have ever had the game. |

I wouldn't criticise the fact that they're doing two games or more at the same time
what I WOULD criticise is the fact that 25 programmers (that's the size of the team, according to Freire on the cya-forum) do so little.
if all 25 programmers were good. and I'm not saying really good. I'm just saying reasonably good, all of the changes from last year to this, that took a year to do, should have been done in a month. and that month includes very heavy testing.

They employ 25 programmers
They could employ about 5 good programmers and get the same thing - but with less bugs

Me too. The main problem is (I think) that there isn't a very customer-oriented view (and seen so by the buyers of the game). When you take blizzard, for instance, they update the game regularly, issue beta-tests (don't know if Cyanide does so though...), make new content available. That sits very well with the fans. In this case, most people now believe that they are not really contributing to the community, because nothing is done with their valuble suggestions by Cyanide.
But still, people want to play the game (I know I do!) |
