As we hit the first cobbles with 123km to go, the break leads by 4 minutes. The climb sees the first riders dropped from the break in pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Blanca Pareja and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ipc.png Granados, who begin to boomerang on and off the back of the break.

This continues up to 81km to go, where we see a group of riders try to bridge:

With 60km to go the break is caught, and we are left with a 78 rider peloton. A quite period then ensues, before suddenly things change…

Disaster at this moment for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski as he punctures! He makes it back within 10km but, with what cost to his energy levels?

Even with the slowdown to let pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Wisniowski back, the attackers are soon caught. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Teggart is the next to try his luck but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Pithie brings him back on the climb with 27km to go, leaving 45 riders up front. He and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/taf.png Kaislavuo will try again on the flat with the same result.

Things then very much settle down, and we reach 1km to go with little change in the race situation.
