Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Pro Cycling
Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Pro Cycling (LPU) is a Belgium based cycling team. The idea started in 2014, when football club K. Lierse S.K. noticed the low sale of tickets on the days cycling classics were hold. They realised there are two sports that matter in Belgium, Football and Cycling. Rather then competing, the board proposed and idea to unite the two. After a lot of thinking, the first steps were taken and preparations started. A new cycling team was born!
It was decided the main sponsor would be K. Lierse S.K., Lierse in short. Of course a second, more international sponsor would be needed. The ideal candidate was found only 2 months later. Pizza Ullo is a growing chain of traditional Italian restaurants. Opposing chains such a Pizza Hut and Domino's, they offer more healthy, more traditional Italian pizza.
Soon after, The first restaurant of Pizza Ullo in Belgium was opened, inside the stadium of Lierse. More restaurants opened over time, as the team got in the first wins in 2014, including 2 national championships. The biggest result came in 2015, when Stijn Joseph won Dwars Door Vlaanderen, a semi classic with live broadcasting on tv.
The team soon promoted to a PCT team, with the extra money being used to focus on developing young talents. Among such alumni are Fernando Gaviria and Sam Oomen, both world class riders coming out of the LPU Academy. More big wins came in both stage races and classics.
In 2024 the team promoted to the highest level after a fantastic season with big wins left and right.

Awesome to see you up in PT at last! I think you've got a solid core to build a team around, and with a few sneaky additions I reckon you'll be in for a really solid season. Hope renewals go smoothly and not too many of your guys get too greedy now that they're riding in the big leagues

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! To answer your questions, yes we will be shouting at Bonifazio until he leaves. As for the game plan, it's still 50/50 between stealing all the talents and go down again, or to make a proper effort to stay in the PT.
Updated the history of the team. Most notably, Sam Oomen becomes even more dominant in the all time statistics and Gamper takes over from Vanbilsen as our best classic rider.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Welcome to PT Feels right to have you up here after all those years of trying, in particular Oomen deserved this promotion after years of being really consistent!
Not looking forward to facing Gamper again, always reminds me of the most silly decision I've taken so far

Finally PT for you! Congratulations! Just a little stronger every year and now you enter PT with quite a good base and lots of money to get another strong point scorer. I think you will have a good season! (If you keep Bonifazio though I think you will need to scream a lot at him, I've hard there are some very steep speed bumps in PT, not to mention long stages/races that should make him tired)
