They have found some flat roads in Austria for the national championships. The veteran Haller is the favorite. He has never won the title, this might be his last season so it would be a nice end.
With 16k a breakaway of 17 amateur riders is brought back. Haller relying on his amateur teammates to control things.
6.5k and 4 riders attack - Gamper. Schönberger, Hofer, and Paulus.
2k to go and the attackers still have 15 seconds on the peloton as Hofer launches.
Hofer seems willing to sacrifice himself for the other 3 as he still leads under the 1k banner. Peloton still 16 seconds back.
400 meters, Hofer is really strong today he gets a small gap on Paulus. Peloton just starting to sprint behind, it looks to be between these 4.
Hofer takes it all the way to the line. What a sprint by him. Paulus and Gamper take 2nd and 3rd.
Haller wins the field sprint for 5th, he didn’t have the team he needed today.
