A mountain course for the US Championship, and a pretty strong group of favourites on the day with any one of 5 in with a chance of winning
Phinney Dombrowski Eastman McNulty Jorgenson
Rhim was the only one of the non favourites to make the front group while McNulty lost all chance with bad positioning
Phinney and Jorgenson the two riders at opposite ends of their careers battled for most of the climb and just as Jorgenson looked to be getting on top Dombrowski who had sat 10 seconds behind them most of the climb came alongside
Dombrowski surged clear over the final 1km and took a 20 second win over Jorgenson, Phinney and Eastman
