Top two from last year are not here but Olivier is and he was 3rd, so we have big expectations from this race, irrespective of the fact that it is a home race and also a Top 5 goal! Olivier has had a very good season again and we hope he can finish off on a high. Guys like Hayter, Leemreize and Cataford are also candidates for a decent GC push. Let's see if we can make use of it.
Thanks for the preview Laurens

Some potential for stage points, but we really could've used 5 extra race days for Oomen.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Every race is decisive at this point so there's no point in hiding we definitely need Rodrigues at his best here. Kinda worrying to see him on the third tier only, but I guess we can fight for a top5. Oomen isn't around and the rest of the field is actually pretty even.
Thanks for the preview Laurens!

Tenorio not even in the preview isn’t the start to the race you want to see
He’s perfectly suited for this race, but Jesus the competition is insane. Basically every stage racer in the division except Oomen is here, it’s going to be tough to be anywhere near the top-10. Hopefully the TT stat matters and he can surprise a few of his rivals here.
Thanks for the preview!

A pretty harsh startlist here. I wonder if some passive riding and a few seconds gained in the prologue over similar riders, Can help Giannoutsos maybe fight for a 5th place rather than 10th… I already regret not finding room for Koumpetsos here for the sprints.
We have solid depth here, but I don’t expect a lot of points in all honesty.

Thanks for the preview, Laurens!
A top 10 by Ranaweera should be okay, but if the TT ability has any impact in the MTT it could get even better.

Sounds surreal to say this out loud but, promotion depends almost entirely on how Reis performs here. I'm hoping for a miracle, but have peace with the inevitable. Good luck everyone.

Time to see if Misbah can go big in Japan a second time in a few weeks after winning the TT on the same course in TOA

We'll see how Cattaneo does here. He should like the MTT but not sure about the hilly stages. And then there's always Dusan

Technically a different course although very similar in design - the race moving to Hokkaido for this year since the TOA covered a lot of the ground in the original course.
Yates got caught behind an ugly split last year or he would have been on the podium, that stage is also gone in the move to Hokkaido.
I think that TT is going to be a big part of the TTT so I think Reis and Rodrigues might be the favorites. Interesting to note this is the last maxed race for all of Yates, Olivier and Meintjes there is going to be a niche there for some younger rider to fill.

nicela, will be tough to hold onto yellow after S2, but that's the goal now

No points for us, but still a decent start, where Giannoutsos get’s the most from his strong PRL stat. If we get a booooring race, these seconds Can mean a lot in the end. Most likely they don’t really matter. We planned after the prologue being worth some GC positions though. Will be fun to see if it was right, or a mistake.

Decent points for us thanks to Durbridge. Reis with a great finish to stay at the front of with the GC favorites keeps us hopeful for him aswel. Thanks for the report ImLadrik!

Jiang in the top three, Kalaba in a promising position to take the jersey and Cattaneo starting off well in the GC. Great start!

Not too terrible a performance by THJ, losing less than 10 seconds to the podium if we look at the GC competitors. It doesn't inspire a huge amount of confidence for the Tokachidake Observatory stage but we knew that coming in to this one. Instead we'll be making to make up some time on the stages departing from Asahikawa City, Ã la Pais Vasco. For now the focus turns to Ovsyannikov, who has an opportunity to confirm his capabilities as a dual-discipline specialist.

Decent from Cataford. was hoping for a podium but just lost out on the miliseconds! Expected time loss from Olivier here. Hope he can show his abilities on the hills again and gain those back. Hoping Hayter can hang on to a decent position from here.
Congrats to quadsas and thanks for the report!
