A 16 rider breaks gets away early but nobody of any note in the break.
The breakaway is caught near the top of the first climb and the peloton rides the descent all together. As soon as they hit the 2nd climb Buitrago launches the first serious attack. Quintana follows.
11k to go, Buitrago and Quintana are caught and Buitrago tries again with Lopez on his wheel.
8k to go. Buitrago doesn’t get a gap but Lopez and Beltran are able to get away. They have 19 seconds over the Los Pollos (Pira) led chase group.
5k to go. Quintana brough the chase group back to Lopez and Beltran but Lopez attacked again. Quintana bridged over, on his own this time, and those two have 14 seconds. Chamorro leading the chase.
Chamorro closes the gap launching a new round of attacks. With 3k to go Lopez has another gap, this time in the company of Sosa and Higuita. 26 seconds behind is a group with Quintana, Chamorro, Beltran, Munoz, Tejada, and Quintana.
1k banner. Lopez has both Higuita and Sosa in trouble. Chase group at 43 seconds. Osorio has joined that group.
An all action performance from Lopez earns him the Colombian National Road Race title.
Higuita and Sosa take 2nd and 3rd.

Time Trial
Ocampo is a heavy favorite to add another success to Sony – Force India’s burgeoning collection of NC wins.
Ocampo will ride last, prior to him the best time is from Osorio, who beats Munoz by fractions.
But that is the battle for 2nd, Ocampo wins it by over a minute.
