The peloton is making its way to Russia for the final chance for the sprinters to grab a classics win to end the season. The race itself is a relatively easy 198 kms that should end in a bunch sprint. Historically the only non mass sprint win was in 2017 where Dzamastagic took home a surprise win for Evonik.
With that in mind it’s time to look at the favourites for the race. Where we have every big gun in the PT sprinters field present. Ewan won here last year and is back to reclaim the tile while Coquard needs a massive win to save ELCO from a relegation. But behind them riders such as Gaviria, Grosu and Ahlstrand also can prove to be massive threats.
| Rider | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Coquard | 73 | 71 | 74 | 84 | 83 | 60 | Gaviria | 76 | 74 | 76 | 83 | 84 | 68 | Grosu | 73 | 74 | 70 | 83 | 80 | 66 | Ewan | 75 | 73 | 71 | 83 | 81 | 63 | Ahlstrand | 73 | 73 | 72 | 82 | 81 | 58 | Kanter | 75 | 75 | 73 | 81 | 80 | 65 | Enger | 73 | 71 | 73 | 81 | 78 | 62 | Farantakis | 74 | 75 | 72 | 81 | 80 | 61 | Kragh Andersen | 77 | 70 | 74 | 81 | 77 | 60 | Samolenkov | 74 | 75 | 71 | 81 | 79 | 60 | Jakobsen | 74 | 75 | 73 | 80 | 80 | 67 | Cullaigh | 74 | 73 | 70 | 80 | 81 | 66 | Kemboi | 78 | 74 | 77 | 80 | 80 | 61 | Aniolkowski | 76 | 76 | 74 | 80 | 79 | 57 | Carsi | 70 | 66 | 69 | 80 | 82 | 52 | Ovsyannikov | 74 | 75 | 72 | 79 | 78 | 71 | Lander | 77 | 77 | 72 | 79 | 77 | 63 | Keough | 73 | 67 | 73 | 79 | 79 | 63 | Hodeg | 72 | 69 | 74 | 79 | 78 | 53 | Pedersen | 77 | 78 | 80 | 78 | 77 | 75 | Contreras | 72 | 73 | 75 | 78 | 80 | 73 |
While this race hasn’t historically proven to be grounds for successful late attacks that won’t discourage the likes of Nych or Varga. The latter comes off a surprising win in Lugano. We could also the likes of Pedersen go for a late attack since his top speed won’t be enough to match the best in the division!
| Rider | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Nych | 78 | 75 | 72 | 65 | 76 | 84 | Varga | 77 | 76 | 73 | 65 | 80 | 83 | Smit | 72 | 76 | 72 | 68 | 74 | 81 | Lecourt De Billot | 75 | 74 | 73 | 61 | 74 | 81 | Wohler | 77 | 72 | 71 | 71 | 72 | 80 | Antonijevic | 78 | 67 | 74 | 71 | 74 | 80 | Evenepoel | 74 | 76 | 78 | 64 | 70 | 80 | Mundle | 79 | 69 | 73 | 59 | 69 | 80 | Vorobev | 74 | 71 | 69 | 57 | 70 | 80 | Barthe | 73 | 73 | 71 | 68 | 76 | 79 | Boros | 73 | 73 | 69 | 64 | 66 | 79 | Tanovitchii | 72 | 75 | 72 | 62 | 71 | 79 | Boutopoulos | 76 | 72 | 74 | 72 | 77 | 78 | Calmejane | 74 | 73 | 76 | 72 | 76 | 78 | Bystrom | 72 | 75 | 72 | 68 | 76 | 78 | Hecht | 71 | 73 | 75 | 67 | 71 | 78 | Moricz | 74 | 73 | 71 | 66 | 64 | 78 | Zukowsky | 70 | 72 | 70 | 72 | 72 | 77 | Sulimov | 73 | 77 | 71 | 65 | 71 | 77 | Barbari | 71 | 70 | 69 | 76 | 79 | 76 | Visser | 72 | 74 | 73 | 73 | 74 | 76 | Van der Haar | 77 | 70 | 72 | 72 | 70 | 76 | Albanese | 71 | 72 | 75 | 71 | 75 | 76 | Bonnamour | 73 | 76 | 75 | 69 | 74 | 76 |

Big race for us! Kragh with solo leadership supported by our rouleur setup minus Wisniowski. Hopeful for a top 10 by Kragh whatever race development. Obviously hoping for late race aggression, but that will also come with a lot of risk regarding our need for points. Still hope we go for it!
Excited for the race, hoping for both TV time and a result. |

So... If Coquard takes the win, and Farantakis ends in top 5 - We might have a shot at staying up.

Could really do with a Top 10 here from Jakobsen to support our push for survival but it's not going to be easy in this field. Will accept slightly lower with some depth points from others.
Thank you for the preview and hopefully it's a sprint rather than a breakaway

Considering AKA was left behind really early and only made it back when the pace slowed near the end, I'll take 11th from him. Resell and Per in the top 30 is a nice surprise too. Works for me. I guess given our survival, there was no need to score too heavily and raise renewal wages further.
Thanks for the report!

Very solid result by Kurianov. Doesnt change anything but its nice to see that he can repeatedly get these sort of mid to late teens results.
Congrats cio, heck of a late season for you!

Well, at least Grosu gets some points. Not many when compared to Jakobsen so are back on the spot just above the red line.

I'd also like to point out that Greg Van Avermaet won with a late attack in 2016

It's not the win but seventh is a decent result nonetheless.
Thanks for the report whitejersey and congrats cio!

Thank you for the report, wj!
That's a miss for us, unfortunately. Would have been great to have secured a great result here and give ourselves air before the final hilly race days. Now, this looks to be very, very tense before Lombardia. Super excited to see how the next few hilly races go, which will give us a better view of the standings before the final monument.
Big congratulations to Puma and cio. Kind of a surprise win, but at the same time not. Very well done by Kanter in the fight for positions. |

A bit of a messy finale as can often be expected in such a race and a very tight finish too! Congrats to cio on the surprise victory and thanks wj for the report
For us, 3rd is a stellar result for Jakobsen and exactly what we needed to sustain our push for safety in the division. I think it's probably Jakobsen's biggest individual result this season and no better time for it!

Nothing big to take home, but at least some decent depth. Could have hoped for better, but given that there wasn't really any attacks that were closing to sticking in the end, the result was as expected.
Thanks for the report, wj, and congrats to those who did well. Certainly not a result that made the title or relegation fight less interesting!

One of the rare flat classics where we did well. Enger with a good finish to his surprisingly great season by sneaking into the top 10. Groselj adds a bit of depth scoring and we made an appearance in the breakaway. Good all round
Thanks for both the preview and report.

2nd is a fantastic result for Kemboi in this field, especially given the fact he wasn't mentioned until the final few hundred metres
While we go 0/5 on goals overall, at least we managed to finish 2nd in two of our win goals (here and Qatar) so not all bad this season - though not a huge help in the budget department.
Congrats to cio and thanks for the report! |

We'll take 5th here, even if we narrowly miss our strange goal of a top 3 finish here
Cullaigh followed the right wheels and did what he could which is great and Antonijevic bagged some more pts I'd imagine with his top 20 finish too. Its certainly a result we needed if we were to finish in the top 10 this year.
Congrats to Cio with the win and thanks for the report!

Very late obviously, but still thank you for all the congratulations!
That was a brilliant effort by Kanter, to come from a decent, but not perfect slipstream position and just zoom past the leaders on the line.
Surely nobody can ever replace Demare, but it's very encouraging to have our new main sprinter settle into the role with a few impressive wins right away!
Thank you WJ for reporting.
