Uppsala Classic - Preview
Welcome to Uppsala, one of Sweden's oldest city's, just an hour's drive from Stockholm.
The Continental Tour peloton meets here for the Uppsala Classic, a mostly flat 194km C2 one-day race. There are 17 CT Teams here and just the lone CT team in Cedevita.
Last year's edition was the first time we had seen this race in the MG Cycling Circuit. Despite being what should be a sprinter's paradise, it was one with a late attack by Losch.
| Winner | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | | 2021 | Losch | Sbaragli | Haas | Nelson | Boivin |
All sprinters here are almost identical in quality. Guerao doesn't quite have the same kick that he did a few years ago but he's still a wily campaigner.
Matthews and Gibbons are superior on the flat roads and should be two favourites because of this.
Last year's winner, Losch, will be hoping to go back-to-back and he also offers something different in that he can mix it up and go for a late attack as well as leave it to a sprint.
Rajovic and Wippert also have that something special which is their superior acceleration compared to the other sprinters.

We can't forget the flat fighters who will look to spice up the final few kilometres of the race and may well be able to steal the win from the sprinters.

No idea how the Kastrasnik/Zariff combo will work out together, but in theory we have two cards to play and plenty of support for both.
Still rooting for Dule also of course!
Thanks for the preview

Keough has been pretty good in the flat classics this year so optimistic of a decent result.
Katrasnik scares me, not sure the CT peloton has the power to bring him back.
Thanks for the preview.

Not getting my hopes up that Itami can do something in the sprint. More or less hoping Quispe can deliver with a late attack. Thanks for the preview!

Go Guerao!
I hope the race will not be too hard, and that he finds the right spot for a good result.
Thanks for the preview!

Had a crazy result last year when Haas scored 3rd with an attack and Nelson led the peloton home for 4th so I've sent the two of them to do the same again!

This is our top 10 goal, really really important that Waersted can manadage that here, but he might just as well fall short. Fingers crossed!
Thank you very much LLS!! |

Very happy with Katrasnik 9th and Zariff 14th in what turned out to be a battle of the sprinters
Thanks for the report

BNZ again! I'd say the next ranking update is going to be a big one for them, congrats!
Perfectly happy with 7th. When I saw our two guys in the break I though Nelson wouldn't sprint, he did and he did well.
Thanks for the report and to all the reporters who have helped catch up

Connor White with the shock Top20 finish, and two men in the break! Pretty good race for us really.

Rajovic on the double (although he won this won first I guess technically). Congrats to Jakstar.
Keough got himself boxed in but got some points.

Extremely happy to see Waersted clinching a top 5 in our top 10 goal, should have been a bit braver in pre-season then
