Welcome to the 10th edition of the Monterrey team time-trial. With the abolishment of the C2HC category, this event moves to C2 and thus is not a mandatory race for CT teams anymore. The starlist shows that with 10 CT and 2 PCT teams participating.
As for the race itself, a length of 47.3 km means having as many competent riders against the clock as possible should be an advantage. You can't afford to carry too many passengers over that distance. Also the course is far from flat. In addition to the roughly 2 km climb in the middle, there is plenty of undulation throughout. Those meters of elevation add up, so climbing ability should prove somewhat useful.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:

BWT Hyundai are back to defend their title. They bring the strongest 8 man unit of climbers, but all great TTers as well. Traditional TT powerhouse Glanbia have better pure TTers, but not nearly the same climbing prowess. Still they should be BWT's main competitors.
McCormick are also very competent and bring a good MO-TT blend. They're probably the favourites to upset the top 2. CT newcomers Oktal Pharma pulled plenty of resources into time-trialing. Both them and Jura will try to reach the podium spots. A mention also to PCT outfit Project: Africa who despite the C2 restrictions, have put together a very reputable lineup.
I definitely should have sent my climbers here instead of some pointless HC classics, as that would likely have made us #1 favorites. But if we can get a Top 5 here, that'd be fine. BWT or McCormick for the win, indeed.
Put the TTT squad together to be competent in stage races, so was thinking any points in pure TTT events would be a bonus. Hadn't realized how many hills there were in this, so could/should really be a nice race.
BWT clearly better so would take some luck to beat them but 2nd would be awesome and pre-season I would have been thrilled with a top 5. So will stick to that as a goal.
I never expected to crish the competition in such a convincing fashion. I was expecting McCormick and Glanbia to be at maximum by 12-20 seconds, but not by 44 seconds ahead of McCormick and nearly a minute and a half to Glanbia (the strongest TTT squad). Guess that hilly section really made or broke races.
Very sound result from us. BWT as expected in another class, congrats to Ivan. And great ride from Podium Ambition, had me a little worried when they closed at the second check.
Ouch, really a horrible day by our boys. No clue what happened there; losing time on the bumps sounds fair, but already the first section was catastrophic. I do not like this result at all, awful performance.
Congrats to ivan nonetheless, good to see at least the favorites perform.
