Welcome to the 4th edition of the Riga - Jurmala GP. The Latvian sprinter's classic is a relatively young race on the MG calendar. It's 190 km long with some undulation throughout, but no notable climbs to speak of. While it may be somewhat favourable to late attacks, the race has been won by a sprinter on all three occasions thus far.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Leadout | FL | RS | SP | AC | Gaviria | 76 | 76 | 83 | 84 | Riabushenko | 74 | 73 | 77 | 75 | Groenewegen | 73 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Vermeersch | 77 | 78 | 74 | 72 | Kemboi | 78 | 77 | 80 | 80 | Wouters | 70 | 72 | 74 | 75 | Silvestre | 78 | 71 | 80 | 81 | Hadi | 68 | 70 | 74 | 71 | Manninen | 74 | 75 | 81 | 80 | Ruiz | 74 | 68 | 71 | 72 | Halvorsen | 76 | 71 | 80 | 80 | Räim | 74 | 72 | 76 | 75 | Cullaigh | 73 | 70 | 80 | 81 | Bar | 76 | 70 | 76 | 74 | Hsu | 75 | 70 | 80 | 79 | Darbinyan | 72 | 71 | 76 | 74 | Kennaugh | 77 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Kennett | 75 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Eislers | 79 | 78 | 82 | 78 | Dzamastagic | 78 | 72 | 76 | 78 | Howard | 76 | 70 | 82 | 79 | Suryadi | 71 | 68 | 79 | 76 | Guarnieri | 74 | 73 | 80 | 78 | Coutinho | 72 | 74 | 79 | 80 | Afewerki | 73 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Hamza | 71 | 70 | 71 | 71 | Lutsyshyn | 70 | 73 | 79 | 80 | Aniolkowski | 72 | 72 | 75 | 75 | Nizzolo | 73 | 67 | 80 | 79 | Gibbons | 75 | 72 | 78 | 78 | Lo Cicero | 71 | 62 | 83 | 77 | Lovassy | 67 | 66 | 76 | 75 |
Gaviria's off season training has proved fruitful. The Colombian is now probably the best sprinter in MG. All his stats are on the highest level and his team consistently puts him in a good position. Groenewegen's season hasn't gone to plan so far, this looks like a good opportunity for him to score a big result. If Kemboi's strong FL and RS can keep him in a good position then he could score well. Silvestre has been surfing the wheels well this season, him and Manninen will need to do that here.
Halvorsen, Cullaigh and Hsu could do that also, but also have some lead outs if needed. And speaking of lead outs, we have three 82 sprinters in Kennaugh, Eislers and Howard who all have good chances to get a train that could hurt them with their setup. Guarnieri could win this race for a 3rd year in a row. But realistically he, Afewerki, Lutsyshyn, Nizzolo and Lo Cicero are all outsiders.
| FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Novardianto | 76 | 70 | 78 | 73 | 79 | 74 | Rowe | 78 | 76 | 70 | 79 | 80 | 75 | Veyhe | 80 | 66 | 71 | 56 | 78 | 80 | Van der Sande | 75 | 78 | 73 | 79 | 79 | 54 | Viviani | 78 | 71 | 77 | 71 | 70 | 73 | Gibbons | 75 | 73 | 72 | 78 | 78 | 65 | Konychev | 77 | 74 | 74 | 73 | 71 | 73 | Breen | 77 | 72 | 72 | 73 | 72 | 74 | Tesfaye Heyi | 75 | 74 | 76 | 68 | 73 | 78 | De Bondt | 76 | 72 | 69 | 74 | 76 | 76 | Van der Haar | 77 | 70 | 72 | 72 | 70 | 76 | Lecourt De Billot | 75 | 74 | 73 | 61 | 74 | 81 | Kasperkiewicz | 76 | 75 | 77 | 59 | 66 | 79 | Vermote | 75 | 74 | 71 | 68 | 72 | 73 |
The attackers can't totally be written off. For any team without sprinters or relatively worse sprinters it would make sense if they tried to surprise the favourites. Xero duo Novardianto and Rowe both fill that bill. The latter especially has made a name for himself winning with late attacks. Assa Abloy bring a variety of strong flat riders with Veyhe, Konychev, Breen and Van der Haar. Van der Sande and Gibbons are sprinters by trade, but could be attackers in this field with their rouleur skills.

Nothing much for us here I guess, but it's going to be interesting to see who wins the sprint lottery.
Thanks for yet another race red!

Not sure I like that Groenewegen might get a train...Vermeersch obviously able to set up a decent one but Groenewegen usually is strongest without one.
Really need a good race here for one as Norway lately wasn`t that great and also the Vuelta didn`t score a lot. |

Finally the first proper flat classic of the year where Eislers strengths should really come into play. It's the home race and we are bringing a latvian sprinter so expectations are high. Wouldnt mind if Dzama, Stoltz et al. would join the late attacks but im really not in the mood of getting a leadout again
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I like our team, I like our train, I like Gaviria but for once I don't like late attacks. Great preview!

Quispe not listed as a possible attacker? Time for him to get his first PTHC victory!
If that fails, I hope Manninen indeed surfs some wheels and finishes as high as possible. Thanks for the preview!

Howard back up to PT level, curious to see how he goes. Don’t like the prospect of a train, but happy to be proven wrong of course
Thanks for the preview!

Another disaster is about to happen for the team. Once again we will see a random sprint and a surprise winner.
Thanks for the preview and good luck to all

Mattiiiiiiiiiiii
Stage races not his thing apparently, but the man knows how to ride a classic
Los Pollos definitely not saved from relegation because of this, but it sure helps a lot in the relegation battle. Quispe scoring some minor points is also welcome. Thanks for the report red, feel free to take more Manninen races

Great report! Shitty race engine though and a disappointing finish, but very happy to see Manninnen winning and the home team take a podium.

Very happy with a podium in our home race. He looked to be in a great position when the Binance train was still near the front but totally lost his positioning during the big mess. Recovering from that and still podiuming here speaks wonders about his strength.
I really like the podium. Three of the cool sprinters at the front and Gaviria narrowly missing out. Congrats Nemo!
Thanks for the report!

I just can't get the Euromillions number right. Complete disaster for my team that barely managed to finish in the top 10.
After what I've seen this year, I swear I never want sprinters on my team again.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Nemo.

Thanks for the report redordead, and congrats Nemo!
Great result for Kemboi, though Manninen winning makes me wish slightly I'd gone through with my plan to replace one with the other in transfers... can't complain about 2nd given the field though! |

Better than expected for us with that 7th place from Van der Sande. Thanks for the report red and congrats on another of your Manni victories, Nemo!
