Let's try this again, a year on since you all didn't want to
The purpose of this game is to be a smaller scale community game than BB or The Amazing Race, but with just as much fun. It will be tactics based rather than the HoH or Roadblock challenges other games may have As always thanks a lot to Kritzo for the base (and most) of this rules write-up
Rules
§1: The game is led by a moderator (me), who undisputed will make all the decisions of the game. There will be just this one thread for everything.
The game is played in a specific thread for this, and it is not allowed whatsoever, to discuss this game outside this thread, except in chatzies you may make within your mafia or neighbour/mason pairings.
[There are two teams in a simple game: The town and the mafia. There are more townies (pro-towns) than members of the mafia (anti-towns), but the townies do not know much at all. They are usually helped by townies with so-called power roles ex. a detective or a doctor (what their specific powers are, is described before the game starts). The members of the mafia know each and can communicate throughout the game. The mafia has a common role, that is to decide who to kill in the nights. The name of the person to be killed is sent in a PM to me.
The game is divided in two phases. Day (~72h) and night (~24h). The players have to discussed who to lynch in the daytime, and before the deadline of the day (sunset), the players have agreed to lynch someone. In the nighttime the power roles do their job of either killing someone (mafia) or checking someone’s alignment (detective). The nights are usually shorter than the days.
Lynchings:
§2: The players decide to lynch one person a day. Who this is, is determined by voting in the gamethread. Every participant has one vote, and the person with most votes will be lynched at the end of the day. When you are voting, vote with a bold text, like this: “Lynch jandal7”, and remember to leave no doubt about your vote when voting whatsoever. If you decide to change your mind it is the last vote that you make that counts as your vote. Basically you can vote as many times as you like. There are also the option of: “Lynch no one”.
If over half of the participants vote for the same person, that person is lynched immediately, and the night will start.
The end of the game:
§3: The pro-towns win, when all the members of the mafia are either killed or lynched.
The anti-towns (mafia) wins, when there are equal members of the anti-town and pro-town.
Behaving:
§4.1: When you are dead, you are dead. You are not allowed to give information about your role/other’s role to the players still in the game. If you are so eager to do this, ask ME, the moderator, and I will take a look at it.
§4.2: It is strictly forbidden to screenshot or quote my PMs. You do not have to PROVE, who you are, but only persuade people to believe you. As of this, it is not allowed EITHER, to create false screenshots or make up wrong quotations from me the moderator.
§4.3: If you do not agree with my decision, then write it in a PM to me, and not in the thread. It is, however, allowed to let others know about it, WHEN THE GAME IS OVER.
§4.4: Try not to leave the game out of nowhere.
§4.5: Do not delete or edit your posts. When you have posted something, it will stay as it has been posted, and if I find out that you have cheated, you are out of the game.
§4.6: Be active. It is always more fun to participate in a game, where people are active.
§4.7: If you know that you will not be able to lynch/participate in the game for some days, let me, the moderator, know.
§4.8: Don’t offer something for information IRL. That is just not cool.
§4.9: NOT NEW BUT PLEASE DO THIS: At night you are "asleep", even if you have night roles. This means no talking from the end of the day to the start of the next day. You will be warned and no real punishments unless you're being persistent and just a dick about it.
The roles of the game with a description:
(For a game of up to 13, always hoping for more obviously but this is the standard):
Also: Two players will be randomly picked (regardless of their role/alignment) to be neighbours. They won't know their neighbours' alignment but will be able to talk with each other in a private chat. If targeted by a tracker they will not be seen visiting each other. That list is up for discussion and feedback. Currently same as last time so if you had ideas or issues please shout them out in the thread!
Godfather - You are the godfather, and the first time you are checked by the detective, your alignment appears to be good. However, if you are checked a second time, your true alignment is revealed. You attend the mafia meetings. You win when the number of mafia players match the amount of Pro-Town players.
One-Shot Strongman – You are a strongman, and you can once activate your strongman ability during performing the factorial kill which will bypass protection from a doctor. You attend the mafia meetings. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
Framer - You are a framer, and you may chose to frame one player during the night, causing the target to investigate as Guilty to a detective. The effect only lasts for the current night. You attend the mafia meetings. You win when the number of mafia players match the amount of Pro-Town players.
Detective - You are detective, and are able to check one participant’s alignment (anti- or pro-town) every night. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Doctor - You are a doctor, and protect that player from a single kill made during that night. You can not protect yourself. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Tracker - You are a tracker, and can track a person to see who they visited/targetted but don't get to know the performed action. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Politician - You are like a normal townie but if you are part of a tied lynch vote, your vote will count more than a standard vote. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Townie - You are a townie, and have no special “powers” whatsoever. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
General information about this game:
”Open” setup with up to 30 participants
The player’s alignment is revealed when lynched or killed.
“No lynch” is allowed.
No PMs, got something to say, do it in the thread!
If you have been muted please adhere at the behest of being booted out (potentially after warning).
No comments on the game in other threads or forums while the game is still running.
You vote by writing Lynch X, and there must be no doubt whatsoever, who you vote for.
Deadlines are a set limit (roughly 72hr days and 24h night) and posted at the start of each day/night but there will be no extensions purely for discussion. The periods end at the announced time - even if I have not made the official end of day/night post yet. Please try to remember when they are and stop posting as it means less work for me to figure out what happened Major events late in the day (gunshot mostly) will add 24 hours to the deadline. For night roles I accept orders for a couple of nights in advance if you will be away for a weekend, etc.
The registration for this game is based on the 'first come, first served' principle. So hurry up! Or don't, 30 people isn't likely But then again, you never know
Feel free to ask any questions about the game, and discuss changes. I will answer them as best as I can.
***THE FLUCTUATING STUFF***:
This is the stuff that changed game to game. It's the same as last time here but all is up for discussion before the game starts, especially the inactivity rule.
- Tiebreaker in tied lynch votes is: "Random amongst people with tied votes" if the politician has not voted for either of the tied lynch candidates. It will not be announced whether the politician or a randomizer decided the lynched person.
- There is a 96 hour opening day for more discussion etc.,
- I will reveal the alignment of people that die, but not their exact role.
- I will reveal when a doctor saved a person but I won't reveal who was saved
- If you fail to make a single post on a game day you will get a warning. If it happens a second time you will be kicked out of the game and replaced by knockout.
- Roles with night actions can submit their night actions in advance, set "default options" or change their previously submitted actions. I will use the most recently submitted action.
- The mafia will also have to decide who of them will do the factional night kill as with the introduction of the tracker that is important.
YOU REGISTER BY WRITING THAT YOU ARE IN IN THIS THREAD!
