For me this is all about Penny Pinching. Ripley has been writing consistent all year, and that in some fantastic manner and with a very cool project. No facades, just pure gameplay as we'd all try, squeezing the absolute maximum out of his riders while writing comfortably long texts to report stuff. If he'd use more result tables and fancy graphics it would be an all-time great for most I assume, but it surely is one for me already.
Also that team choice background and the avatar, still loving how everything matches so perfectly.
Nice to be nominated here. I've been working on finding some time to play the story again, but been hard to find time with school. In contrast to all my other stories, which I always wanted to be the best they could be, this one is more for fun and I think thats helped me keep it going.
The other 3 are much more deserving than mine, and I had fond memories following Alex's story while I was on vacation this summer, so I'll vote for that, but you cant go wrong with the other two either.
Thanks for the kind words, croatia! Obviously, I look jealously at other people's stories and how lovingly they are presented and had told myself I need to step up. But it just doesn't look like it'll ever happen and here are some of the reasons:
- I lack the discipline, plain and simple. Never been my strong suit.
- I am ashamed to admit, I don't even know my way around a word processor properly, let alone anything more complex. I guess, say, Kiserlovski, uses some kind of templates, I wouldn't even know where to start. Every post I ever made with any kind of decent formatting was a labour of love which took me hours.
- Penny Pinching was especially problematic, feeling the need to play a few seasons before I'd know if it makes a story. I pretty much stopped playing after I started posting, so there's a disconnect that's tough to overcome.
- Also, I decided to post daily updates of this story in the hope of drawing a few members back into visiting regularly. It's a fair amount of work even without formatting, something had to give.
Thanks for the nomination and as usual, being nominated, I won't cast a vote. IF I would, I think Ripley would deserve it most.
On the template topic; Ripley's right. I do us them for some kind of posts such as my race previews, GT startlists, UCI standings etc. They may look complicated at first glance, but there's not that much too it. They're mostly created with the forum's buttons that I think a very user-friendly.
I would love to write more than I am right now, but the days with loads of free time are behind me now that I've started my first job. I know I'm going to continue the story though, just at a (much) lower pace and only after I resolved a small software problem.
I feel dirty beating kiserlovski! A great honour, thank you so much. We still have a few more seasons of Penny Pinching ahead, everybody will be relieved to hear this will be my last PCM 14 story.
Please don't . I can't recall anyone being this consistent in terms of posting in the last years really, despite the sometimes modest amount of reactions. Richly deserved!
