Six races as well for the CT division throughout several divisions. GCN tried their luck in the HC rated Down Under Classic and with 15 points, they did decent there with Mohs. Not a lot but just 2 rd spent.
Holloway then with the perfect start to the season for the new McCormick Pro Cycling team. Taking the win in the very first race is always special. Doing it in the C1 division against stronger teams is super special. As sprinter on a semi hilly circuit hugely impressive. Let`s make Pico Basile quick as 2 points from Valls aren`t impressive.
C2HC Great Ocean Road Classic could have become a sprinter race but the hills on the route did exhaust them enough for allow a late attack to have success. Reckweg for Netia and Maes for Tryg the lucky ones while Canelon, Krieger, Guillen, Boivin were able to sprint to some nice points next in the absence of the division`s best sprinters.
San Christobal saw the win for Esteban Chaves, which is a good sign for Azteca as his 2018 wasn`t as good. And Tachira then saw a dominant win by Intxausti, the likely best climber in the CT. Pinot was close though and Faiers impressed all with a double stage win and looking very strong the longer the race got. Kiserlovski on the other hand not yet in 2018 form and neither was Mohs having a good start to the season. A win in Tachira on the opening day, yes, but on 39 points only when having spent 12 race days already is not optimal.
In total McCormick takes the early lead as the TdU points were enough to beat NENT and DK Zalgiris as next. GCN and BNZ in the top5 as well.

Dan Holloway with an early sign for the individual CT crown? Already having a big gap to Intxausti as other favourite. Though both are very limited in race days and need to use them well as others have quite a few more and e.g. Faiers seems to be a decent bet as well just like Pinot.
Reckweg might have been a bit surprising while Edmondson next delivered very decent for BNZ. Esteban Chaves surely also a candidate for the crown if he continues to use the race days that well.

Very strong start for us, with a month of racing put in. Chaves has only seen the road once, and won. Sitting near the top with our best rider yet to open his season. (Intxausti still has Eastman to deal with at some point, so don't just give away best climber yet...)

Given the results, as expected but we wanted a lot more! Mohs has had a very expensive start for a little return. Tachira was a gamble that didn't pay off. Tibo is up there, but needs a strong February to build on that

I hope, and expect, that this'll be the lowest we'll see ourselves in the CT Team Standings throughout the season.
Our only 4 RDs are from 2 classics. Costa who scored fairly well in San Cristobal and Moser who's disappointing 8th in the GORC still returned a few vital points.
47 points from 4 RDs isn't too shabby but a big February will help us judge where the team is at a bit better.

For amateurs the ranking file need some more formulas first. Not sure I can get it done today or tomorrow. |
