It`s the penultimate update for the PCT with only! the Japan Cup to be raced, which all teams participate but Iberia - Team Degenkolb and cycleYorkshire! For first this might become crucial as it might mean no promotion in the end!
To make it short. The promotion fight saw an incredible late run by Repsol, that jump from 7th to 3rd. Mainly due to their good Tour du Maroc, where they had been the best scoring team, even a bit better than PT teams Air France and eBuddy. Their gap should even be big enough to secure promotion behind Generali and SPAR.
Then close fight for the remaining spots with Fablok and Indosat being on the upper side of the line while Iberia dropped below and is under pressure even with Podium Ambition just 7 points behind while Ayubowan would need a very special race in Japan.
Coming to the relegation and we saw some big movement there. Netia actually from the best position to worst in 4 races. They are the hunter now of Lierse (+13 points) and Carlsberg (+30 points). You see, it`s just 30 points in between 3 teams and the final race is probably as important for them as it never have been.
Netia really in danger seeing Kwiatkowski is not on the startlist and hopes are on Dyrnes! Carlsberg with Juul-Jensen against Lierse with Waeytens. This could really become a blockbuster for them.
Nordstrom, Euskaltel and Azteca are almost guaranteed to go down.

Praise be to Velits and his total ridiculousness, we're back in a great position to get our rankings goal!
Surely CJJ does the job in the relegation battle after AKA's huge performance in Maroc. Waeytens could still make Ollfardh forget every bad thing he ever said though with a star-making turn, or, in my fantasy land, Dyrnes with a big overperformance in the top 10 to save Netia!

7 points to put us first in line in case of disbandment, it's doable... but not a strong terrain for the team in a race that will surely be pretty stacked with talent... Lets just hang on against Ayubowan and then make desisions about how we want the team to continue

Wow, that's far too close to call. Must admit I hope for Dyrnes to save Netia, but at the same time I don't want Carlsberg to go down, which makes it kind of difficult... |

Beautiful result for Xero. Really happy they delivered this season.
Also what a tense finish in the battle against relegation, let's hope for some magic by Dyrnes. But I fear no Kwiatek no party

Great comeback by Carlsberg, outscoring us in every race this month. They deserve to stay in and I have no doubt they will. Not only do we need to outscore them, we also need to outscore them by a lot while Juul Jensen is the better rider for sure. We'll probably even end up behind Netia the way Waeytens is riding this season.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Crap last races from our side, luckily we had the buffer and will finish solidly mid-table.
Battle for relegation is tense, not rooting for anyone in particular just hoping Japan Cup brings the best for these teams and some good racing.

Our last races has been really subpar, we can still make it with a decent result, but man is this not fun at all. If we miss promotion it might be the end of my team and if we promote, we get a new chance at rebuilding our squad. I don't like depending on Froome either, though he did win there last race, but that was before his decline. That is the only thing that can consolidate me, is that last year the race seemed to be in his alley

Jeez... couldnt be any closer than that! Now we need a Dyrnes miracle ride ...
Spoiler Cant say Carlsbergs late season push is undeserved as they underperformed all year long and were due some luck

I must say that I'm most impressed with how Generali have managed to make that huuuuge team promote like this.
No stand out riders in the bunch, while only Roglic and Ulissi should be able to do any sort of individual results at PCT level, but the combination of riders and the huge amount of depth have certainly done them well... I am very interested in seeing just how they will make the PT transition because neither Roglic nor Ulissi will be able to score many PT points, and the rest is luxury domestiques at best. Riders such as Koren, Rolland, Dees, Viviani, Theuns and Hermans are obviously capable of scoring more than 100 points each, but for any of them to clock 300 would need some sort of miracle, hence quite some change will be needed.
Even for PT level the TTT setup is highly potent though!
I believe that SPAR with Denifl, Brändle, Bilbao, David, Nepomnyachniy and Guerao will find it easier to stay up with some minor changes. Also with talents such as Giddich the future should look good. Nice to see an asian PT team again btw!
Fablok looking set for promotion after so much bad luck in the past is also really cool to see... The age of most riders should see a significant change to the team though with Poljanski and Guardini probably the strongest riders not declining.
For me the big disaster would be for Team Degenkolb not to go up. With riders like Blythe and Degenkolb in the squad I don't mind too much though, but I would like to see talents like Latour, Soler and Garcia Cortina to give it a PT go soon though.
At the bottom it is always difficult, and as I don't really have any knowledge of activity on the site I can't tell which teams I would rather see go down. I do however like the Carlsberg setup a lot, so I hope BBL will make do.

To be honest I thought we would have outscored Leirse more in Maroc than we did. I guess those minor GC placings are just more important than I always imagined, plus Dall-Oste rising up KOM for them for quite clutch. Garby would have done well there to get a similar placing on GC or stay higher in the KOM.
Yet somehow, we're in the best place possible going into the final race. Well, the best place possible would not be in the relegation battle, but considering our struggles, to have made it this far is quite remarkable. However, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Juul-Jensen effectively has to beat both of his competitors in this race. He has to. Whoever wins this one of us three gets to stay in PCT. And it's almost a tossup. It's possible he wins, considering the latest result in Torino, but it's also possible we lose big. JJ and Dyrnes are incredibly similar and Waeytens is the better puncheur, he just doesn't overperform as much. It could go in any direction.
In the end, I can only be happy to be here. I had resigned myself to relegating, so if I still do, it will suck, but I'll get through it. I have to just say good luck to my competitors as this has been extremely hard fought, and none of us deserve to go down.

Thanks for the update chief!
Catching up on the RDs count has moved WCC safely away from the relegation battle now that everyone is on a level playing field (phew!). Only 40 ranking points off of the pre-season target of 2500 points that I was convinced would be well clear of relegation, and in fact likely to deliver the top 15 standing goal requested by the sponsors. The sponsor goal we may fall just short of, but with a decent outing on the final race day in Japan, 2500 season points may well be possible. Recent events have obviously gone well for WCC, reflecting a lot of our better riders having committed large chunks of their season's RD count to ToA and Maroc. The first few months of the season seemed to go quite well, then there was quite a dip in results harvesting through the summer where some of our start-lists were a little more filler than star quality. Picked things up again in the Autumn to ensure another season in PCT is on the horizon; the over-arching goal that was our focus from the moment that CT promotion was secured the previous season.
As things stand, the top 5 seems almost done and dusted. Will refrain from congrats until the final finish line is crossed, but these outfits have had strong seasons no matter what happens on the final day. Down in the basement, 2 or 3 teams have seemed pretty doomed from early doors, but the battle over PCT survival is going right down to the wire above that (glad to have kicked away from that position). Has seen a bit of a turnaround of late that leaves it all still hanging in the balance, incredibly tight and hence too close to call. Still lots to be decided for many participants at the final rendevous in Japan.

That's about exactly where I saw us finishing pre-season, 5th. Weird to actually be in that position though. Still a chance someone pips us on the line in the Japan Cup that I'm 99% sure we're not racing. Here's hoping it's purely a battle of Lierse/Carlsberg and Netia
Weird to see teams like Meiji/Novatek/Philips so low though, and even Ayubowan! outside the promotion spots (unless they pull off something amazing in JC) is something you wouldn't think would eventuate pre-season.
Anyway, we're just happy to be here. Thanks for the update.

Yeah so 11 points from 4 races (three participated in) deserves a three position drop! Can see us dropping 2, 3 or even 4 positions after Japan is raced, because we all know Dieteren and Navardauskas will do diddly squat there. Just look up Milano Torino for reference. If we end up 20th after this season, with the likes of Henao, Saber and Rui, I don't know why we're bothering really!
Top 3 look secured. Next two need some beating and a close battle among the next six teams to be the next best. All eyes on the relegation battle though. Carlsberg with a late surge, putting themselves in the best position, with Lierse and Netia needing a big turnaround in Japan to pull themselves to safety. However, stranger things have happened, so let's see where we end up.
Thanks for the update roturn

Well we're obviously going down at this point but this has been expected for a long time so we're already well on our way to planning for it!
