We're getting to the point in transfers where PCT teams might like to remember that there is a cost for applying for wildcards.
As usual, there are two wildcard spaces available for all PT races, Grand Tours and Monuments included. There is a package cost for applying to a particular race category - you can apply to as many races as you like within a category, once you have bought the package.
Prices are the same as last year:
Classics
€30,000
Monuments
€50,000
Classics and Monuments
€70,000
Stage Races
€70,000
Grand Tours
€100,000
Grand Tours and Stage Races
€150,000
All PT Races
€200,000
Points scored by PCT teams in PT races do not count towards the PCT standings, and the races do not cost any race days. Race clash rules do apply though. Riders will gain XP too, if relevant.
Priority for Grand Tour wildcards goes to teams who have not previously ridden a GT.
The Wildcard Selection file is now available. The races are all listed now, so just put a priority number in the box by each race that you wish to apply for. There is a limit of 16 races that you can apply for.
You should also fill in your team name, in the box above the races.
Once completed, add the file to your dropbox folder, and send a PM to ManGame-Admin.
If you don't wish to apply for any wildcards, you still need to PM ManGame-Admin - just to confirm this is the case, so that we are not waiting for you.
I assume wildcards will not be finalised until after transfers close, is that correct?
Just thinking around about the situation where a team(s) doesn't get a race in one (or more) of the categories. In this situation the fee for that category is reimbursed, right, but then can't be used if transfers already complete, and hence small part carried over to next season?
Is this all a correct interpretation, or nonsense?
How does the priority work exatly? Say I want to apply for 3 races, do we just put 1 for our most wanted race, 2 for the next and 3 for the race with the least priority?
Wildcards can be decided as soon as all teams have submitted the file [or said they aren't going to], so it doesn't necesarily have to be after transfers have ended.
Last year 7 teams applied for GTs, so one missed out.
6 applied for Monuments, so four of them got two races.
7 applied for Stage Races so they got 2-3 each.
7 applied for Classics, so also 2-3 each.
Can be pretty certain to get races if going for Stage Race and Classics, and quite likely for Monuments too. GTs are the ones more likely to be oversubscribed.
So if applying for all races, you'd be unlikely to receive a refund as would not be cost-effective.
But it would carry over to the next year budget calculations if refunded - and you'd also have chance to use it in training if you wished.
But while usually do look to give everyone something, that can't be guaranteed if you only apply for 1, or 2 races, say.

And yes, a 1 by the race you'd most like to do; then a '2' by the next one, then a '3', for as many races as you want to apply for.
Is it okay to submit a 1A, 1B type thing if races overlap and the team could not support going to both.
IE - Team would really like to go to either Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico, and would list them as 1 and 2 since they are the highest priority. However the team can't support a reasonable squad to both, so getting either should drop the other as a priority.

For GT's, do you only look at teams that never rode a GT before? Or will you also look at teams that didn't ride one the year before or something?
1. Never before
2. Not last year
3. Wildcard last year
4. PT team last year
Just to note that the above priority list may not exactly be the one we apply - teams with a longer gap since a previous GT appearance will most likely be considered alongside those who have never ridden one before.
And if you can please send in choices as soon as you are able to, and ideally by the close of transfers.
They can then be quickly allocated, to allow race planners to be compiled and sent out.
With two teams yet to submit, wildcard allocations will not take place today. Really do hope to be able to reveal them by Monday evening at the latest!
