Advice for hill races (Amstel, FW, LBL)
jesulo
Hi. I'm playing a pro cyclist game, currently in the fourth season, puncher profile:

I managed to win San Remo and Lombardia in the third season by attacking in the last climb and then keeping a few seconds in the downhill. I also made 2nd in the World Championship after Alaphillipe. But otherwise I don't seem to be able to stay with the strongest riders when a big hilly race ends uphill: in the third season, 6th in Amstel, 7th in FW, 17th in LBL; in the current season, 6th, 8th and 18th. In all cases I just try to stay with the group and then counterattack in the final climb, but my red bar depletes in a few seconds and then they go away. For a change, in my last LBL I tried to attack in the previous climb to the last one but I barely got 9" and I depleted both yellow and red bars so I had no chances in the final climb.

Generally speaking I could say the same about any hill race or stage (a 1.1 classic, a stage of Paris-Nice or Tirreno, NC, etc): if the finish line is after a downhill, I can win if I attack in the final climb and I can manage a small advantage (sometimes); whenever it's uphill I just can't keep the pace, both effort bars deplet rather quickly and I'm lucky if I make top 10.

Of course, I'm talking about being leader of my team and having some teammate protecting me all the time, and getting to the final kms with yellow bar almost full and red bar completely full.

Also, I've been training through all this game the Puncher program and I think STA and RES improve way too slowly. STA only got decent this very season, but RES is still way too low imo. On the other hand, I see many AI riders (both real and regens) who, being the same age of my rider or even younger have much bigger values, like 75, 77, etc.

Can you help me with this? Is this performance decent given my rider's attributes? Should these attributes be higher at his age? If I'm underperforming, how could I get better? How do you play these races?

Thanks in advance.

you need a minimum
flat 73+
stamina 77+
resistance 77+
acceleration and hill stats are enough 82 you don't need to grow hill and acc no more
you need that flat and resistance to grow as much as you can
you developed your rider very unbalanced

at pro cyclist it's better to start younger then default age(22 years old it's default),like start at age 19 and have potential grand champion

Thanks. The puncher training is supposed to raise enough your RES, but throughout three seasons it's still at a very poor 67 and I don't know why (well, it was at the moment of my post).

The problem is I don't know if you should vary the training program or you should stick with his main profile, and if it's the former, how to do it. In a previous game, with a flandier, I tried to switch to baroudeur, sprinter and even puncher at different moments, trying to balance his stats (let's say I trained 3 or 4 levels as flandiers, and 1 or 2 as each of the others). The result was that in three seasons I was still struggling to win minor cobblestones races, and I hadn't had any success in the mayor ones. I must say I made a mistake signing with AG2R in the first transfer period and I never was the team leader so no teammates working for me, though.

I think you should vary your training program, because regardless what you train for as a Puncher your hill and acc stat should improve very often, but you have to improve your weaker stats.

TT and Climber are good training programs because they can increase flat, mtn, hill, acc and res.

Thanks. I've been doing that in the latest levels, though I think it might be a bit late. :/

In future games I'll keep in mind that and I'll begin with a younger character too.
