Issue with time trials in Pro Cyclist mode

I've been playing for several seasons, I have the latest patch (at least I think), and have had no issues. But suddenly during the Giro d'Italia, riders stop going down the time trial ramp. The game doesn't crash, but half way through the time trial, the riders just stop coming. I happened during the first time trial of the race, so I simulated (which worked out just fine), but it's annoying to have to simulate the last stage of a grand tour, because it means that the experience points will be gone.

Is this an issue anyone else has encountered? I've never seen it before.

Do other time trials work? Does the same time trial work in one-off race?
