We have had flat stages, hilly stages, mountain stages, mountain time trials and team time trials, but this season has yet to see a proper individual time trial - until now.

Last season, Wiggins and Lang dominated the CT TTs, with Lang now in the ProTour, can anyone rise up to challenge Wiggins or will the Brit be free to dominate the season's tts?

The first challenger was early starter Tom Zirbel, who set a benchmark of 8'09.

IrnBru's Ben Day was quicker at the checkpoint but couldnt maintain his pace to finish 3 seconds back in 2nd, and then his teammate Mark Jamieson went 3rd, 6 seconds back.

Another Aussie, Miles Olman of Gatorade, produced a very good time. He went 2nd.

Unfortunately for Slipstream, the Aussie Onslaught would not end and Zirbel's time would not last. It fell to IrnBru's Zakkari Dempster, by a 3 second margin.

Rob Hayles then slotted into 2nd, fractionally ahead of Zirbel

Steven Cozza and Dmitri Grabovski highlighted the TT strength in depth of Slipstream and IrnBru as they went 5th and 6th respectively.

Jason Donald then restored Slipstream to the top of the leaderboard, chopping 4 seconds from Dempster with a time of 8'02.

So the challenger have all set their times. All thats left is to see if any were good enough to beat Bradley Wiggins.

It was close between Donald and Wiggins, Wiggins led by just 1 second at the first check, but was able to keep that 1 second lead all the way to the finish, taking victory here in Egypt.

The teams classification for this stage should give us some indication towards the TTT on Stage 4. It is:
