Game keeps crashing at World Championships ITT

I'm in my second season in the pro cyclist mode. When I get to the WC ITT and press 3D race, it starts to load, but then it crashes. I can hear the sound of the helicopter for about a second right before the crash. I have tried with the internet connection disabled as well as enabled several times with no luck.
The same thing happened last season, where I decided to simulate the race instead. I would rather not have to do that this time, so what can I do?
