energygel, consequences inside and outside race

Hi, I try to find an answer on how energygel exactly works. Inside the race it keeps your red bar intact a bit longer (that's my observation), but does it also tire the cyclists on a season level, or, more important, if there are multiple stages does it influence recovery?

The effect you observed is correct, but it doesn't have any more drawbacks outside the race Smile
