Second time trial of the race and with 11,9km the longer one. Still it`s in the area between TT and prologue.
Flens won the opener but as said, Tennant is the one, who prefers the longer and his the top favourite today.
Quite early already Griffith as one of the best sets a new best time. 15'21 and he looked fast. Katrakis +7 and Oba +1 come closest so far. In especially the Japanese TT champion with a good time.
Can Flens make it 2/2 in Southland? No! Only 3rd for him at the moment 7s behind Griffith. This is a small surprise but after hills and mountains also regeneration is a factor.
Tennant is a lot better when it comes to save energy for the later stages and he shows it today impressively. Not only taking the new best time but actually with a beast time!
-19s for him and thi is definitely the winner time! In his own league today.
Tvetcov losing 29s today but gains quite a bit on Antón who is at +47.
A lot more interesting though the comparison to Sella. The Italian was only 1s ahead of Anton in the veteran duel for 2nd. And the Italian is losing 1'12. So Anton takes 2nd ahead of Sella this way.
GC leader Martinez with a decent time as 13th of the day justifies his lead.
GC wise Pauwels and Iturria make big moves up into 7th and 8th after a solid TT today. And actually also TT specialist Tennant is up to an incredible 13th in a mountaineous race.
