The Context
You may know me as developer from the "PCM Career explorer" tool.
Over the past years I've been developing smaller and larger applications, but there's one passion I keep going back to, one project of mine that I've been working on over the past years (and throwing everything away and restarting...) and that's my own F1 Management game.
The challenge
Now, I want to have another attempt at creating an F1 management game the way I have in my mind.
The coding and database is not an issue, this is something I'm perfectly capable of handling, and due to working so long on it I already have plenty of things I can reuse.
In the past I already had certain versions of my game who would be "playable" for endless nr of seasons, with regens coming through, with GP2 included, with teams starting the development of new designs, transfer system included. (offcourse they were still far from finished & polished but I just want to show that I'm serious about this and that I know what I'm starting with.)
The issue
I always hit the same roadblock: At one point or another I lose my motivation because I don't like the UI and I keep making it over and over again. I'm a developer, not a graphic genius. I can work with all the graphic tools, create custom controls etc, but in the end I always feel like: "this doesn't feel like a UI of a 'real game'" It's always missing that touch that someone who's good and creative with UI's can give it.
The solution
I hope somewhere out there a talented UI designer is enthusiastic about helping to create an F1 Management game and can work together with me to translate my idea's into a UI that looks & feels like I have it in my mind, and like a "real game" does. (I'm talking about the general UI screens for the management pages: the driver profile, the ranking page, the email-inbox, the contract discussion screen, etc).
I did reach out for help on a smaller forum some time ago, but most of people that offered help were 14 year olds who were more interested to get their hands on an Alpha version of the game then they were able to create real graphic stuff.
So I would really love if someone who's actually good at this graphic stuff would sit together with me to create a concept and prototype of the game's UI
sample (of what I wasn't happy with)
Here are some screens about a UI I made in one of my previous attempts that I found was missing something:

https://davydepuyd...creen2.png
https://davydepuyd...creen6.png
this was a more "football manager" approach.
I've gone of that path a bit now, I want the game to have it's own identity, and not so spreadsheet like.

First of all, I think it's a great idea.
But if you are going to create an F1 Management game, the UI is not very important. Better focus on the "realism" and on the user friendliness(with that I mean, mod support(or make DB creation easy, like in PCM), make everything adjustable, give out more variety(maybe only F1 is not much...expand the game later))
For the UI, I would suggest, going with a nice modern, 2D Design. Something like Windows 10 comes to mind.(Maybe use it as an Inspiration)
I am pretty Bad with Photoshop, so I can't create graphics. I can only help you with the German translation and with some small ideas.
Good Luck!

haha :-)
Thanks for the feedback.
The base I have (from previous attempts) always has easy db editing and one or more subleagues for the F1
I know what you say about the UI, but I personally found that when I'm not happy or in doubt with the UI I keep losing myself trying over and over to adjust or rebuild the UI and by then, all motivation has gone to work on the gamem code itself. |

From the description, I'd imagine it's user interface design, and not just graphics.

It would indeed be to create a concept/template for a UI.
We would first create a general look and feel: do we have a topbar, a bottom bar, what does navigation look like, where will the "continue" button be placed, do we have backgrounds or a single color or a gradient.
Then we would decide how the information of the different screens is shown: does it take the entire free space, do we show them as smaller "subforms", is navigation in the same area (fe driver profile, details, history, ...) with tabbed form or what are the options...
I'm looking for someone that can turn my guidelines, or his own creative input into a UI that looks professional |

Wow, F1 manager game is something I've always dreamed of. I've never found anything worth of attention on the market and I really wanted someone to create one.
It's a shame I'm not good at graphic stuff or anything useful perhaps, because I would love to help as much as I could.
The only thing I could do is to send you loads of ideas of what some things could work like in the game. I don't know if you would appreciate, because I'm not a programmer. But I have an ability to come up with multiple possible solutions with ease, maybe you would find at least one thing worth implementing among my ideas.
