PCM 15 upgrade recommended?
9-Ball
So, a few months after release, would the consensus be to recommend purchasing PCM 15 if one enjoys career mode in PCM 14?

I'm interested in hearing what upgrades/advancements people notice, versus what's worse or particularly problematic? Free poll included. Wink
It was eleven more than necessary.

In my opinion, PCM 2014 career mode is far superior to the PCM 2015 one, I could not even work out training or scouting when I attempted a career mode, it is baffling and inferior. However, the be a pro mode I am enjoying, and would recommend it for that.

If you want the latest db's that are released, then buy PCM15

If you don't bother about heavy additions and a more stable game then choose PCM14 Smile

I completely think the opposite. I never had as much fun in the career mode, as in PCM 15.

Baffling and inferior, not words i've heard used with PCM before.

Training is still basically the same as it was in PCM14. You pick what programme you want your rider to follow, exactly the same as in PCM14. You can pair him up with a Trainer, exactly like in PCM14.
The big differences are that riders have "training styles" and to get the best results you need to match them up with trainers who use that style. And the other difference is that PCM doesn't spoon feed you a riders potential anymore, so you have to do some guess work and use your brain.
It's a lot more realistic and rewarding system, and actually a really nice step forwards to making PCM a real management game.

Scouting i never use much in any PCM cause i was always pretty damn broken. Now you can have a Dev team and pick and chose riders to follow closely. I find this new Scouting system a lot better. It's more in depth and complex and as with training is a big step towards proper management game.
It's not perfect but after a season or two i've got it nailed down and can work it very well.

PCM15 makes you do some thinking and work and planning. It's quite a change, but a very good change.

I couldn't get to grips with training at all. My coaches seemed to be of equal ability, regardless of reputation. I couldn't work out what they specialized in either. I also couldn't find any feedback on which areas my riders could improve in.

Scouts also seemed of equal ability, regardless of reputation. I couldn't work out how to send them to regions sponsors required riders in.

So its like in real life. You don't know where your riders have much potential in. Also you can't rate staff with stats.

You would get a report from your coaches, which would indicate where they think riders would improve. Also, they were rated on a 1-10 scale in previous versions, much easier to work out which trainer should coach sprints, climbs etc..

Let's try and make this a bit easier for you then...

Trainers/Training
Bigger reputation, the better they are. It's no longer based on what they train but is based on their style. So you match the trainers style with the riders style of training (eg Ground Braking with Ground Braking). Beyond that they work exactly the same as in PCM14.
The "Potential Stars" are gone. You have to guess where best to train your riders, just like in real life. So you need to look at the riders current stats and their potential and just guess a bit. It works exactly the same as PCM14 just you have less information spoon fed to you.

Scouts
Again their stats are hidden. But otherwise they are exactly as in PCM14.

Youth Development/Scouting
You can have a Development team. Vary your squad size, where you want the riders to come from, pick a specialization of focus. You'll get to see these riders grow and you have an amount of influence on their progression.
In the Scouting tab after a period of time you'll get reports in from your scouts about riders. Depending on your Scouts hidden stats this info will be accurate or not. You then tell your scouts to follow specific riders and give detailed reports on just those few riders.
It's the same as PCM14 basically. There you said go here and scout, then picked riders they found to follow. Now they just kind of roam the world instead of specific regions.

Functionally it's all actually very similar to PCM14. Some of the naming has changed and a lot of data is now hidden from the player. Overall it's more realistic and a bit more detailed and complex. But still pretty easy to use. Takes a bit of time to get used to and master, just like anything new in any game ever.

I just found it a bit overwhelming, maybe I shouldn't have dived straight in to a world tour team and expected to grasp it, so I am planning on starting a career right from the bottom, similar to the Utensilsnord game I learned PCM 2014 from. Obviously I won't be able to afford a development squad, so that will be for another day. Thanks for the help.
