The 5th stage is the next chance for the top puncheurs to gain time on the breakaway riders. Lots of hills on the 2nd part today.
9 in the break: Finetto Omarsson Stachowiak Ndbri Bissinger Squire Ebsen Kasa Simantirakis
None of them is as dangerous as on past stages today.
40km and a group of 23 puncheurs with a gap. Some of the riders in the front of the 2nd group are well placed riders such as Langeveld or Seeldraeyers. But also Rabon, Schwab, Kinney, Sinkewitz in there!
Strava immediately working with Novatek in there.
Bissinger in the meantime taking the first 3 KoM`s. As they are Cat.1 he can climb quite a bit in the rankings.
36km and the two groups refusion again. Good news for those dropped riders.
Last Cat.1 and Omarsson and Bissinger attack in the breakaway. Not far behind them the peloton now with Selander attacking. He is caught soon again though.
12km and still a couple of breakaway riders in front. Omarsson solo ahead of the next.
But more important the GC fight as Vastaranta attacks.
A couple of riders follow including race leader Rosskopf.
The others are Passalacqua and Mendes and also Rabon a bit later with Fankhauser and Langeveld.
Omarsson still in the lead with 5km to go.
Stachowiak, Finetto, Kasa and Ebsen 48s later.
Then Vastaranta already but with another minute chased by Mendes, Zeits and Rabon.
Rosskopf struggling as he is back in the peloton again.
Only Passalacqua and Fankhauser are also ahead of the peloton behind the mentioned 4 puncheurs. All solo though and Vastaranta actually having a 2min gap already on the peloton.
The break though takes the stage. Omarsson looking good but from behind the next riders are coming quickly.
Vastaranta as the strongest GC rider with Mendes behind him. Lots of solo riders with the peloton still being in the far background.

...bue he still takes it. Ebsen in 2nd followed by Finetto and Stachowiak.
Vastaranta as 6th behind Kasa. 33s for him today.
But he gains 20s on Zeits and Mendes and ~50s on Rabon.
Fankhauser, Kinney and Passalacqua with +2'09 just 17s ahead of the peloton including Rosskopf, who keeps the lead!
9s only ahead of Zeits now though.
Rabon 3rd in the GC with Vastaranta climbing to 6th.
