Keeping good riders in a conti-team happy
indierekt
hej folks,

sorry if my english isn't perfect, i hope my question is understandable anyway. i'm recently bought pcm14 (last one was pcm11) and have aquestion:

i want to start a new game with a self-created pro-conti-team. when it comes to the season planning, my riders have other targets than my sponsors. so far, no problem, because i can change that easily. but my better riders (Meintjes, Phinney, A. Yates) don't like the sponsor targets, because they don't have enough prestige. and now i'm in kind of a pickle:

i can give them prestigious races, and then they are not happy because they won't participate in them. or i tell them, that they won't participate in those races in the first place, and they are - not happy. the only alternative is, that when i get wild cards they could participate in those prestigious races, and fail my sponsor targets, but the is my sponsor - not happy.

so, what should i do?

Set their goals to like 2.HC and 1.HC
that's most prestigues you can get in continental.
and make sure you have like 5 races as goal for them,
keep search harder

I think the general consensus is that the happiness of the riders doesn't matter, so don't worry too much about it. Don't set races as goals you won't be participating in. Especially since goals determine the training level (though you can still make changes) and you want your riders in good form for your sponsor's objectives.

Thank you for your answer, but i'm afraid that "keep search harder" won't work, i f i want them to be happy with their targets. For example Meintjes is only happy (green bar), when i give him 2 major stage races.

Thank you, that is very good to know.

As an alternative i thought about creating 3 classement-bunches (Puncherur, Climber, Stage Racer) with 3-4 people and 2 spirnter-bunches, so that i could split the sponsor targets up and give each bunch 1 or 2 major stage races as targets. When i don't get a wild card, there are other interesting races they can join in that time, and i would change the training manually a little, so that the priority are the sponsor targets. But if it works, that they stay at my team, even when the bars in the target planning are yellow, red or worse, than everything works out just fine.
