I am currently working on a new variant for the Tour Down Under for PCM 13. It will be made as accurate as possible to the exact route of the race as planned. It will be based in New South Wales in Australia, as opposed to the traditional South Australian based TDU. It will feature a prologue, a hilly stage, 2 flat stages and 2 mountain finishes.
Here are the pictures of the proposed routes, distances, profiles, climbs and sprints:
Stage 1: a 15.5km Prologue through the streets of Newcastle, NSW.
Stage 2: a 130.2km hilly stage from Newcastle to Northern Sydney.
Stage 3: a 72km flat loop circuit around Sydney's iconic Centennial Parklands, taking in a part of the Sydney 2000 Olympics Men's Road Race course.
Stage 4: A 107.3km stage from inner Sydney to Kurrajong, with a mountain finish in Kurrajong Heights, taking in the famous Blue Mountains along the way.
Stage 5: A 108.8 stage from Southern Sydney to Robertson, featuring a mountain finish at Robertson and the Bulli and Macquarie Passes.
Stage 6: A 156km bumpy stage starting in Moss Vale in NSW and featuring a flat finish in Canberra, Australia's capital city in the ACT.
I will update the thread when the variant is completed and all stages are tested and uploaded.
Stage 1 Prologue stage is already completed, but will be uploaded with the whole tour variant when it is all completed.
Cannot find the .dem files for the region, so I am re-creating them as accurately as I am able to do. Luckily I have travelled almost all the roads I am doing, so I have a very good knowledge of them.
I have completed stages 1, 2, 3 and 6. I still have to complete stages 4 and 5.
I may decide to make stage 5 a little bit longer in length. I will advise of this and the extended route for stage 5 at the time I upload all the stages.
Here is my work so far. I will upload all stages when my work is 100% completed.
