I recently bought pcm14 and started a new season with Sky. At the moment, I am at the starting of the Giro(may), and I just started to browse the Finances tab in game. This way, i saw that my monthly wages at the moment are 923.500 and the sponsor budget is 654.743.
Am I required to do anything to avoid going bankrupt?

Yes, players are often in trouble avoiding bankrupt without opening the editor. So you'd rather open an advanced editor like Lachi's editor/pcm fast editor and edit to a biggest number the column finan_i_solde Wink

So, shouldn't be this thing considered a bug or something? Starting up the career with a sponsor that offers you less money than your actual wages isn't alright from my pov.

I haven't started with such an expensive team yet but the sums might just work out on a year to year basis anyway. In the sponsor tab check out how much your equipment suppliers are paying you - that's money you get once per year (on the 1st of January). Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, I think you get additional money from your main sponsor at the same time, too.

However, it is entirely possible to go bankrupt. I started with one of the weakest teams (Tirol Cycling) and was allowed to sign fairly expensive riders in the first transfer period - but I missed pretty much all season goals and my budget was cut by 50% the next year and thus I was in deep trouble.

You definitely have enough money to go through the first season, even though your balance will drop continuously. To be on the safe side, reduce your wage budget for the next season. So let some top wage earners go and replace them with cheaper options. Taking a good look around you'll always find interesting riders who demand surprisingly little. I've got a pretty strong team with a wage budget of just 450.000. You can start approaching riders on the 21st of June - good hunting.
